  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Can demons be forgiven?

Actually, there have been some demons that have gone sour since the Fall of Satan.

Remember in the Book of Isaiah and the Book of Genesis where God (called "The Lord of Hosts") sent an Angel to rule each of the 27 nations (at the time)?

Some of them stayed mostly faithful to God (those ancient civilizations that were monotheistic and worshipped God strikingly similar to the way the Hebrews did), and some of them became corrupted and went bad. Paganistic nations worshipped false gods, dead gods, Nephilims and idols. The "gods" they worshipped were actually Angels that God had appointed to look after the nation, but the Angel had gone bad and told people that it was a god or a lesser god.

That is why Genesis uses the term "gods of old" and Paul in the Book of Corinthians says that Pagan "sacrifices are made to dead gods".

I'm not exactly sure, but there may be repentance for fallen Angels. I'm not sure if all of Satan's Angels will remain fallen forever. If some fell from grace after the Fall of Satan (the Angels that ruled nations), they might be able to be forgiven since they fell after Satan. Although I don't know if they would want to.

Demons could be forgiven; they have free will;
It is written in the life of a orthodox saint (I don't remember which) that a demon was tempting him, and after a long period of time, he cursed the demon not to leave a room untill he would say so; and talking to the demon, he asked him if he wouldn't like to return to God; the demon surplisingly said he would; so the saint prayed and an angel came forth and told him, that if the demon wanted to be forgiven, he would have to pray for 3 years to God and confess his fall and all (it wasn't about the time, nor about the pray, but about accepting his wrong doing). The saint told that to the demon, but the demon declined; it was his pride that prevented him from doing so.
Or that's how I remember the account I read.
So basically, I think demons can be forgiven, but to be forgived it would imply a lot of things, and they wouldn't be prepared to do so.

Ya, i think this explains it well. Even if God did want to forgive a demon, the demon would never want that forgiveness.
