I am an evangelist for a youth charity called North East Scotland Youth For Christ, we run a monthly event called "Breathe" at Breathe we take a theme and explore it using games, praise and teaching. I plan many of these events and the next one is my responsibility. The general theme is prayer to God is easier now that Jesus has taught us than before, ie we no longer need to sacrifice etc.

Anyway, to cut to the point of all this, I would like a bit of scripture to base the evening on, but I am struggling to think of one. It needs to be one verse or maybe two and no longer as the kids that we talk to are not Christian and threfore tend to get turned off by quotes from Scripture, however I believe it is important to intriduce them to it, which is why I want a verse at all.

I had thaught about talking about when the temple curtain was torn, when Jesus died, the emphasis being that God was no longer stuck in a small part of the temple, but now He was all around us and could be spoken to at any time.

Any help would be appreciated

Thank you,

Your sister in Christ

how about where james said that if anyman lacks wisdom to just let him ask of god who gives all things freely.

the first chapter of james.
ya know?
how if we need anything to just ask god for it.

and then like in psalm 34.10
it says that those who seek the lord shall lack no good thing.
or maybe another scripture from that chapter, it says alot about answered prayer.

maybe that helped, godbless you and your ministry.

That will be James 1:5 then,

Thank you,

If I am perfectly honest that is not quite what I am looking for, but I will bear them in mind as I am not really sure what I am looking for!!

Sorry for being so difficult!!

Jay, how about the end of Heb. 4? i.e. coming boldly before the throne of grace.
A good way of presenting this is to ask, "What do we have to do to be able to enter into His presence (in prayer).

The answer is ALL that we need is just a 'NEED'. If we have a need, that's all that we need to enter in. This goes along with your thought on the ripped veil in the temple.

WOW, all we need is a need, man, thats an awesome thought!
hehe

matthew 7.8 (hears a good one!)
for everyone that asketh receiveth, and he that seeketh findeth, and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
phill 4.6,7
be careful for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto god.
and the peace of god which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds in christ jesus.

im not really sure exactly what you mean.

Hebrews 4:16, Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence,

That is exactly what I was looking for and I will use that. Thank you so much you have taken away a big problem. May God bless you for this help in His work.

Hi, as far as I know the best ministry is done when we show up and see what's up. I know not many will agree here but this is what I mean.

If we walk with Jesus daily, we in Him and He in us, we put on the mind of Christ. Jesus always does what the Father is doing. For example, If you have a meeting where you are going to share, it is important, I think most important to spend time with our Father and find out what he wants to do then do that. It should not take any "study" because the same Spirit that spoke through Jesus will speak through you.

It is no longer we who live but Jesus, He never, to my knowledge prepared sermons or talks, He did know the scriptures, however he spoke as one having authority.

I believe God will prepare your heart and then speak through you.

When posting don't we just start typing what is on our heart?
