Saturday I had to drive across the border to take my SIL to the greyhound station heading south. Last minute I realized the my birth certificate was not in my wallet and I had no clue of where to begin to look for it. Last time I had it out was in January of 2005 and it had been lost that time too.
I could have sent one of my kids, but I know the area really well because of spending most of my summers with my aunt and uncle.
My BIL offered to drive, but he is still unstable health wise due to an accident.
I went to the border all nerves. I got the nicest crossing guard. Of course it helped that SIL's maiden name was my married name.
Pick up time at the bus station next week is in the wee hours of the morning. I don't think I would get the same nice crossing guard.
Here is the question of relating to my predicament. I have been searching relentlessly since Saturday. I have torn closets, drawers, and cupboards apart searching. I kept coming back to the drawers in the bathroom, but it was not there. Then today I took a notion to pick up the Q-Tips and there it was. What a dumb place to put something for safekeeping. But I did it!
I am so relieved now! Not that my birth certificate is any guarantee that I can cross the border.
