Can anyone interpret dreams???

I had a dream and, based on Bible verses and certain events in my life, I think it might be from God. How do I know if it really is from God and what does it mean?

I was in the car, shaking out gym shoes. I think my family was there too, but I wasn’t focusing on them.(I just came back from a road trip, so it makes since that my dream would be in a car. I usually shake out my shoes to check for spiders since they’re usually in the garage, which has a lot of bugs in it.) I shook the first shoe, and a little black snake came out. It came towards me, and I cut off its head. Then, kind of nervous about what I would find, I shook out the second shoe. Two little black snakes, a tan cobra, and a brown snake like a copperhead came out. One of the little black snakes came towards me, and I cut off its head. I don’t remember exactly what happened next because I waited too long to write this in my dream journal and I’m starting to forget things, but I’m pretty sure the second black snake came towards me and I cut off its head. I know that after that the cobra came towards me and I tried to cut off its head. I remember the exact image and the overwhelming fear of trying to cut off its head, but it’s head wouldn’t come off. It was very strong and hard and couldn’t be cut through. Then I took three shoeboxes stacked on top of each other and crushed the cobra’s head. If it makes a difference, I’m pretty sure the shoeboxes had shoes in them, because even though the lid was on them and I couldn’t see inside, they were heavier than empty shoeboxes would be.
The brown snake had disappeared sometime while I was killing the other snakes. It didn’t show up anymore during the rest of the dream. I remember looking down and seeing the three small heads of the black snakes. Their mouths were open wide, facing upward. Their mouths were white inside. We reached our destination and got out of the car. We were at a place that reminded me of the place we go to for co-op or the place we have gone to before for classes that our homeschool group offers. Both of those places are churches, by the way. I saw the little snake heads everywhere, biting the clothing of the people in the building, but the people either didn’t know or didn’t care. I don’t remember, but I think some people might have been playing with and laughing at the snake heads.

I noticed a lot of the number three in my dream. Three little black snakes, and the third snake from the second shoe being crushed under three shoeboxes. It’s weird that I had that dream when the day after would be the start of the third month of the year. Also there were two shoes and two black snakes in the second shoe, and the dream was on the last day of the second month. I don’t know if that’s coincidence or if it means something.

Some other things I noticed are that there are Bible verses about treading on snakes, and crushing snakes. Also, I watched a video that was supposed to Biblically interpret black snake dreams, and it said a dream about a black snake could mean someone plotting something against you. I know that one of my sisters has a plan to kill me. Again, not sure if this means anything or if I should even believe that the video I watched is true.

Could this be from God? If so, what do the snakes mean? And does being in a church/place of education mean anything?

The snakes are temptations; some more serious than the others.
You kept your head, and cut them off.
Being in a Church means being in the presence of God, and with the help of God, you triumphed.
The lesson is to be aware of your surroundings, prepare your defenses every day with prayer, and trust God to be your help, always.

In Dan 2 - Daniel makes the point that only God can interpret dreams - and so any human doing it would need God to speak to him/her to be accurate.

I am not sure your dream means anything at this point

I'm wondering if it's just an anxiety dream combined with thinking about snakes and the Bible. The snakes biting the clothes could be your mind remembering the people bitten by snakes in the desert with Moses.

Scripture is clear who dreams by God. Rest in this.

Yes God gives the interpretation when they're from Him. He can use folks to interpret as He did with Joseph and Daniel.

Gen 40 "And Joseph said unto them, Do not interpretations belong to God? tell me them, I pray you." Joseph told the butler and baker the interpretation of their dreams Fulfilled in Gen 40

God gave Daniel understanding in all visions and dreams. Dan 1-4, 7

Also, "And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:" Acts 2:17

Once you're given an interpretation test it, does it point to the Trinity? Prayerfully consider it.

God can speak to us in our dreams (looking at Acts of the Apostles 2)

Interestingly enough, it's when we are asleep that we are still. For some of us, it's the only time our minds and bodies are at rest.. open to receive from the Lord.

Just look at Martha and Mary in the scripture (Luke 10:38-42).

Martha was very busy with her daily household duties.. she got troubled that her sister Mary wasn't helping.

Mary had chosen to sit at the feet of the Lord Jesus, hearing His Word.

This is what the Lord said to Martha when she complained that Mary wasn't helping her..

'41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:

42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.'

(Luke 10:41-42)

So it is important that we should be still and listen.. that's when God can speak to us (for example, when in prayer).

'Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.'

(Psalms 46:10)

Now to dreams and numbers..

What some may not know is that numbers in the Bible all serve a purpose. There is a reason certain numbers are used repeatedly.. God uses them to signify different things.

For example, the number 2 stands for multiplication (i.e Noah's Ark, the animals were in pairs. Adam and Eve, 2 - 'Be fruitful and multiply' Genesis 1:27-28).

The number 3 signifies the power of God... i.e the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. (See Genesis 40 for when Joseph interpreted the dreams of the Chief baker and the Cup bearer).

You will notice in Genesis 40 when the Chief Baker and the Cup-bearer came to Joseph to interpret their dreams.. in both their dreams the number 3 was used to signify 3 days (3 branches and 3 baskets), the number 3 here meant that the power of God was behind the dream.

This is proven later because when Joseph gave the interpretations to these 2 men.. His interpretations came true 3 days later for both of them.

Clearly, the power of God was behind the dreams (and interpretations).

Now in Genesis 41, Pharaoh also dreams a dream (2 in fact).

He has 2 dreams but they both mean the same thing (Genesis 41:25).

In this case, scripture lets us know that the number 2 here (the number of dreams Pharaoh had) didn't mean multiplication (as it often does).. but the number 2 here meant an impending and/or established judgement would come to pass.

'32 And for that the dream was doubled unto Pharaoh twice; it is because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass.'

(Genesis 41:32)

This can be the case with the numbers '2' or '3'.. if they serve to signify a number of witnesses greater than 1 (i.e 'where 2 or 3 are gathered in my name..' - Matthew 18:20) to establish a word/matter.

In Pharaohs dream there was 2 dreams.. so there were 2 witnesses that established the Word (of judgement) given to Him through His dream(s).

'At the mouth of two witnesses, or three witnesses, shall he that is worthy of death be put to death; but at the mouth of one witness he shall not be put to death.'

(Deuteronomy 17:6)

'This is the third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.'

(2 Corinthians 13:1)

God had determined and established that there would be 7 years of plenty, and 7 years of famine in the land.

God is also the one who gave Joseph the knowledge to interpret Pharaohs dreams correctly.. this is important to know.

Now that I've (hopefully) made sense of the significance of numbers in the Bible (God's number system)..

I will address your dream.

Serpents generally signify temptation/deception if The Fall of man in the Garden of Eden is any indication.. (Genesis 3)

That you had 2 shoes and 3 little black snakes.. I would think it's possible that your dream could have been from the Lord.

Perhaps the little snake heads biting the clothing (which is often symbolized in scripture as our 'covering', or 'garments of righteousness' - i.e Revelation 3:15-22 and others) in the Churches means that the people's faith is under attack.. and they don't seem to care.

That you cut off the head of the little snakes and even crushed the big snake with 3 shoe-boxes.. this could mean you are called or being prepared to teach, and/or disciple other believers (women? - 1 Timothy 2:14, Titus 2:3-5) by your knowledge of the Word of God (and by His grace.. which is sufficient for you to crush the serpents head. The number 5, it signifies the grace of God - there were 5 snakes total in your dream).

'13 And the Lord God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.

14 And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:

15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.'

(Genesis 3:13-15)

Interesting that you mentioned some of the snakes/serpents were little.. and one was big.

In Genesis 3:15 it talks about the woman's seed and the serpents seed.

The word 'seed' in the Bible here is another word for 'offspring' (babies/children/posterity).

Anyway, I don't normally attempt to interpret dreams online to those who I don't personally know.. but I felt led to respond, on the chance I could be of service here.

Please take what I say with a grain of salt.. at the end of the day, you have the freedom to make your own choices.

It's a tricky thing to give interpretation for dreams (or give personal prophetic words) because in doing this we can risk interfering with other's free will.

Pray about it if you feel so led.. and maybe consult with someone you trust and know.

Or, you can dismiss all of this.. entirely up to you.

I do hope I haven't violated any forum rules by responding.. mods can be pretty strict with 'personal prophetic words', which this *could* be mistaken as.

Lastly I will say.. our dream life is unaffected/uninfluenced by personal convictions, beliefs, feelings etc.

Because of this.. it's when we dream that anything can happen, even getting a dream from the Lord.

The Word says no eye has seen, no ear has heard, nor has it entered into the heart of man what God has prepared for them that love Him.. (1 Corinthians 2:9-16)

It also says in this scripture that only the Spirit of God (the Holy Spirit) can search out and explain the deep things of God.. so as to guide us into all truth.

Since Christians have the Holy Spirit upon conversion/baptism.. we can have the mind of Christ to understand spiritual things, if God permits it to be so (John 16:7-16, Acts of the Apostles 5:32).

See the spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 12).. it's all written in the Word of God.
