... how addiction to heavy mental bands is part of Orthodoxy?

Such addiction is nothing more than another example how the word of Christ is being turned into worldly religion masquerading as Orthodoxy.

If this is what Orthodoxy is all about then Anglicanism is miles ahead of this lot.

I really don't see how anyone could conclude that orthodoxy is about metal!

One thing that is orthodox is focusing on your own sins, obsessions and shortcomings. We aren't supposed to nit pick at our brothers and sisters. The speck in our sister's eye forgetting the log on our own eye.

It was just a Metal thread or two. We've had Classic Rock threads, Uncle Clem is into The Grateful Dead, and Bluegrass. I listen to The Dead, Classic Rock, Jazz, Blues, & Classical.

I'm sure that if you wanted to start a productive thread, instead of a divisive one, you could start a "post some of your favorite secular music thread"

addiction of any kind is not part of Orthodoxy of course.

guys, i believe wayseer is asking an honest question (maybe his writing tone could be better, but i don't think he means anything bad). he is trying to understand.

Blackknight i felt the same way a while ago, but now i know that everyone is welcome in TAW you included!

It isn't. And I'm pretty sure that you already know that. It's an off-topic thread where some people on this board are talking about some of their favorite bands. And some of the people on that thread are guests to our forum.

I haven't participated. My heavy metal days were pretty limited. I much prefer indie, trip-hop, 90s alternative/grunge, swing, jazz & reggae. I'm pretty partial to a lot of classical music too, since I spent a big portion of my life taking piano lessons & ballet lessons.

I don't think I would call musical preference an addiction though. I do have some experience with an actual addiction, and I wouldn't say that music can have that same impact on a person's life. Not on its own anyway, without some sort of pre-existing problem.

But I'm no specialist, so I could be wrong..

Eh, everyone has their personal taste in music. Mine is mostly, r&b, motown, jazz, pop, easy rock, and old skool/funk. But nobody has threads on that, and I never started one because I assumed nobody else likes it but me. :D
