"Part"?

The whole post was based off of that subject!
I was essentially saying that a robot can love as an extention oneself. If I was mostly paralized, for example, I might still be able to program a robot to hug a loved one. The hug may be robotic, but the love would still be there.

The question is not "Can a robot show love". The question is "Can a robot love".

Even if robots attain the ability to love as we know it, I suspect it will still be limited to its roots in the humanity that programmed/built it. I'm not saying that future robots might not feel or express real love, just that it would be a variant of human love.

Then again, if it wasn't a variant of human love, how would we ever notice? What would robot-specific love look like? How do we know it's not already happening? Just imagine, the world might be full of lonely, misunderstood robots :(.

If a robot can decide on its own to either love or not love, it is not a robot. If a human cannot decide on its own either to love or not love, it is not a human.
