*Sigh* This is not the best form of communication, I agree.

Concerning your question: I believe that if a person has been given the gift of speaking in tongues then that is a sign that they are saved-yes, always.
However...sometimes people try to imitate the real thing-there are imitations of it.
That is what I was trying to explain, but I guess I did it poorly.

p.s. Paul really was rebuking the Corinthians in I Cor. 13 wasn't he? He said a person could be filled with the Spirit and talk in the tongues of men and angels and still not love-Wow, a good verse to include, New Day. It just shows how much we emphasize the wrong things sometimes.

we all emphasize the wrong things sometimes, also did you know without your last answer i was not able to find the following:

Mark 16:17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”

It is strange how God can work sometimes, and that is my thought.

If you were sincere when you ask Jesus into your heart and repented of your sins then your name was placed in the Lamb's Book of Life and the Bible says that no one can snatch them out of the hand of God. Your sins were thrown into the lake of forgetfullness and God sees them no more.

Speaking in tongues when you have the infilling of the Holy Spirit is the very Spirit of Jesus speaking through your spirit - if you were not saved, the Holy Spirit would not be there.

The Bible says that Jesus is your friend and as close as your shadow and only a heartbeat away. Talk to him, He walks with you. Your faith will grow as you grow closer.

Can I person honestly say the sinners prayer, be baptized and speak in tongues and still not be saved. I have done all these and i never felt anything when i did them. I know its not about feeling but everyone I know saying that when they first spoke in tongues they had amazing feelings. Also the devil keeps putting into my mind the scripture that says I will have mercy on those I choose. It' in the old testament and repeated in the new testament but i don't know where. Most of the time I feel like God has not chosen me. I want more than anything to have a personal relationship with God

The bible tells us how to know if we are saved and speaking in tongues is not the way. Listen here.

I want to tell you a true, personal event that happened to me. At one time, back in 1995, my grandmother died and prior to, I had gotten angry with God, refused to go to church, pray or do anything. I take that back, I wasn't angry, I was disappointed to the limits. I was losing all that I loved and it seemed God didn't care. So I picked up my Newports again, had a few sips of alcohol, gathered a new bunch of unsaved friends and began to straddle the fence. On the day of the funeral, I was seated up front with the family of course and someone sang a very moving song, followed by a celebration of her homegoing as a born again christian. Something in that song kept ringing with me and before I could say boo, I was weeping and speaking (very loud) in tongues. Thankfully it was a pentecostal church. Afterwards, as I was driving my car, Newport in hand, I asked God this very same question that you did. He spoke very clearly to me these words "I NEVER leave you, you ALWAYS leave me. My SPIRIT is always striving and calling for you its my grace" and that did it for me. I can't report being 100 percent on target since that day, but I can report, I learned the lesson and I ran back to God with top speed!!

Please do this, PLEASE, PLEASE, DO THIS. Every day repeat out loud as many times as you can the word of God. I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.
God is my Father.
God loves me with the same love that He loved His Son.
The Holy Spirit bears witness with my spirit that I am a child of God.
I am His sheep & I hear His voice & a strangers' voice I will not hear.
I walk by faith & not by my feelings.
God will complete the work that He has begun in me.
No one comes to the Father except the Father draws him, it is God that has called me to Himself, He initiated, He will save me to the uttermost.
This is a spiritual battle in your mind & Jesus, Himself, always responded with the Word to every verbal assault. Say to yourself the fact that I want to know God & please Him means that His Spirit is at work in me now! We can not do this of our own accord, darling.

i didn't feel anything when i first spoke in tongues. But speaking in tongues is a sign of those that believe and that have the holy spirit in them. Faith is not living by what you see or feel....faith is of the heart...when you believe you believe with your heart...what you feel and think has nothing to do with it. Infact part of having faith involves getting the word down into you...which means you have to repeat scripture over and over again. hope this helps,

God Bless,
-Katy
