Here's a thread in GA that needs a well-reasoned response from a Calvinist.

Is this a Strawman? Nazi thinking vs Calvinistic thinking
I would jump in, but this just seems entirely sensational. A lot of what goes on in GA is designed to get people agitated. There's hardly an argument being put forth, so there's not much to which to respond.

There is no Christian love in GA, nor is there "iron sharpening iron" over there. It is a "bloodbath" as I have suggested.

On another note, I accidently stumbled into the Anglical/Episcopal area while trying to get into this one and the phrase, "rapture crazy once saved-always saved crowd" gave me a good laugh. It is often good to take a humor hike into some of the other forums.

"bloodbath" is a very polite way to put it ;)

it reminds me of this:

I went and looked at the link. I agree this is so absurd that is not worth bothering with. I will follow Prov. 26:4 on this one "Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him. "

I was thinking more this verse:

Pro 26:5 GB
(5) Answere a foole according to his foolishnes, least he be wise in his owne conceite.

The simple fact is that this is a non-Believer wishing to engage Calvinists. I expect him to be hostile and have misconceptions. The gospel didn't spread over a smooth road. For the first 300 years, the saints spread the gospel over ground wet with the blood of their predecessors. A rough GA forum is hardly a comparrison to that.

The core of who we are, and what has driven we Calvinists to the ends of the earth and marked our names among the blessed army of martyrs is our belief that the Lord still delights to raise up sinners from ashes and dung piles and set them as princes in his kingdom. Election is not merely a word. It is a call to arms.

Aw, man! Now I have to go in there and strike down the heathen.

I hear ya, Woody. I'll report for battle.

Quite frankly, this "salvation" of yours sounds more like some kind of spiritual and mental rape than an act of love.

Do they even want to be saved of their sins? No. The thought of salvation sickens them more than rape. After some time in here, it is a real culture shock to me visiting over there! Ephesians 2:1-3

Welcome to the world of the natural Adamic man in action. Spiritual death is not this state of neutrality which some people seem to believe; it is a state of active hostility towards God, just like this verse says: The carnal mind is hostile against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

It should matter not to us whether we are the sweet savor of life or of death for either way we are the sweet savor of Christ to God. And, once more into the breach....

2 Corinthians 2
14 Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place. 15 For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing. 16 To the one we are the aroma of death leading to death, and to the other the aroma of life leading to life. And who is sufficient for these things? 17 For we are not, as so many, peddling the word of God; but as of sincerity, but as from God, we speak in the sight of God in Christ.

Woody, reread Ben! I'm not so sure he's an unbeliever.
Didn't he say he is currently on the praise team at a Baptist church?!

I wrote him out a good 30-45 minute reply & lost it because I got logged out somehow.

I think he's just burned out on "churchianity". I suspect he is making the Pelagian error of judging the doctrine by the professors of it.

Whatchya think?

I read it and this is my current take. Ben really is a believer. He just believes he is going to hell. I don't know why, but when you offered to speak to him privately, I chose to dig into the rest of the thread. I have noticed that he has not posted much on the thread since.
