  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I wish I had it on tape...:p I was very nervous beforehand, even though I sort of had planned a couple of things to talk about. But as soon as I heard her So-Cal (and very sweet) voice on the other side, I felt a lot more relaxed. But when it came to the time to finish off, I found it a bit hard. Mainly because I had never actually with my voice said to a girl that I loved her. I got a bit tongue tied, but finally got it out, and when I heard the traditional response I felt so happy! But there certainly is a great jump from MSN to phone calls, and one that I think has really benefited our relationship. :)

When my boyfriend first called me, I had this awful fever. I asked him why he called and he said that he wanted to check up on me in my sickness. :) He was really sweet. We talked for about ten minutes or so, and we could have talked longer. But I had a bleeding nose so I had to cut the conversation short... Yeah, it was embarassing trying not to cough or choke as I laughed, and the bloody nose was not a very comfortable thing either, hehe. But at least we both had a good time that first time on the phone. :)

It was full of nervousness on both sides. And we only talked for about 15 minutes. I did most of the asking. At times, the conversation got cold. Four years later, we're talking marriage. And on my last cell phone bill, I ate up 4500 weekend minutes this month. That's a less compared to 6 months ago. We burned up over 7000 minutes on the phone in a month.

I felt exactly how you did heavenlie. The first time Clayburn and I talked, I was nervous at first. But he was able to put me completely at ease in just a short time. Now we talk on the phone every day, have met (he was up here this past week), and he is even thinking about moving up here so that he can be close to me. I love him so very much and am very blessed to be his girlfriend. I am very thankful for Vonage or else we'd be spending a fortune with the amount of time we talk each day!

Well the very first time I got a call from my gf niether of us had planed it. I had the place to myself that night and was already wondering what her voice sounded like. So I just asked if she wanted to lol. I think she was as nervice as I was cause it took her a few minutes to call lol. But we talked until we got disconected cause of her cell phone  . Which was about 1 and 1/2 hours. I was sooo scared to pick up the phone lol. But by the end I was just as peacefull as I could be and even listening to her yawn lol. It was a great time and I STILL get all excited when I call or she calls. I am like you too kris...I never said the "i love you" words either. It was odd saying it cause I never had. But it comes natural now :).

I loved it when Dan called me. It was very impromptu (that means I made a fool of myself and told him he sounded gay). Talk about a blow to the ego. :p I felt really bad afterwards, though, and apoogized. It was fun, though. I finally heard his lovely voice. :)

[bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse]! I remember the first time Steve (Rorschach) and I talked on the phone! I--being the "typical girl"--threw the "well...give me a call sometime, cuz I don't call boys...so you gotta call me first if you wanna talk!;)" out there (which actually means "PLEASE call me ASAP...perhaps tonight?!")! And then we go offline, but he hadn't called (I guess he didn't get the hint, lol) so I BROKE my "rule" and called him! I know, I know...lol, but I just had SUCH a connection with him and now I'm GLAD I called, because (at the time) I didn't realize how shy he is (or can be) around people (especially girls) that he doesn't know! He told me that he doesn't know if he would have ever been able to get up the courage to call me if I hadn't called him first! So anyway...that night we talked until LATE (like 2AM) and it was a school night! And we talked everyday (until the wee hours)...and so on and so forth...and the rest is history!!!!:)

Well, I don't have an S/O but I remember the first time stormgade4 called me. It was actually pretty recent so not too hard to remember :) We were chatting one night and he wanted me to call him because he needed to get some things done (laundry and such) but still wanted to talk. So, I told him he could call me, because I just prefer that and I don't get any free minutes. I didn't really know how it would go...just thought it would be fun to chat with him. After hearing his voice and realizng how easy it was to talk to him, I started thinking "hey this guy would make a good boyfriend". It's always a pleasure talking to him on the phone and getting to go to the movies was awesome :)

LoL yeah I remember that! So it was a hint that you were giving me? Yeah, I didn't know that lol. Actually I was planning on calling Brittany the next day or something, but she surprised me when she called! I was nervous because I was afraid my voice would sound stupid lol. But I'm glad she called:) As we kept talking we just kept growing closer and closer and of course the rest is history:)

The first time my boyfriend called me we weren't going out. One of our friends had told him to call me and gave him my phone number. She thought he liked me and she knew I was planing on asking him to the homecoming dance. It seemed like we talked forever on the phone. :)

The voice bit is probably the coolest bit about the first call, as I mentioned earlier...but telling him he sounded gay...I hope you don't mind me having a bit of a chuckle, Amanda! ^_^

To this day, I am SO glad I called Steve that night because (through our phone calls) we became MUCH closer than we ever could've by just talking online or whatnot! When you talk with someone on the phone you get to hear their INSTANT reaction to a comment, unlike online where they can take all the time in the world to react and respond! You really get to see a person's true-self on the phone I think! Now I just can't wait until Steve is really here!:)

I called my bf's workplace today and he wasn't there... so we haven't talked yet, hehe.
I was in LDR's before.. In 3 of them, we talked on the phone.
1) we talked about anything, everything, very relaxed, comfortable (talked frequently)
2) didn't talk as frequently on the phone (lived further), used microphones/webcams on the computers as well. really nice to talk to on the phone. he would call right back after we hung up and be like "i miss you! i love your voice!"
3) we only talked twice. really awkward!
