Here's a quote for you: "True humility is not thinking less of yourself; it is thinking of yourself less."
Where'd you get that quote from?

It's also an antimetabole (Literary term, if you don't know, I just learned about it, so...) An example of an antimetabole Jesus uses is when he says, " he who seeks to save his soul shall lose it, but he who loses his soul for my sake, shall find it" Or J.F.K. "Ask not what your country should do for you, but what you should do for your country." It's a reversal of words like "Do you see what you like?, or do you like what you see?" see...

God Bless!

Does that make it a bad quote? I still think it's quite good.

I think I've read the majority of of Lewis' books. Ya, there are things I don't agree with, but when I was done each book I wanted to know Jesus more.
I have found it interesting to go on Amazon comments and read what people say about a book. Once in a while the theologians write a rebuttel to a popular book that has theological errors. The popular book has comments about how people are turning back to God, returning to God and felt God's present while they read. The rebuttal, to make sure we all have things correct have no comments from these types of people.

Lewis I'm sure has touched more people for God than any book written to correct Lewis' mistakes.

Idk if anyone is even still posting on this thread but every c.s Lewis book I have read has been very thought provoking. As many others have stated Mere Christianity was fantastic. It was everything I wanted to put in words. I've read the chronicles of narnia (before I even knew it was Lewis) and after learning he wrote that and mere Christianity I read the screw tape letters and the great divorce. I have yet to read something he's wrote that I dislike (and I'm including quotes.lol)

By CJ Lewis' own admission, He wasn't walking with or IN Jesus until the end of his carreer.
One of my pet peives is pastors that quote this author in their sermons. Not understanding that he wasn't a Christian author until the end of his writings.
One can verify this on You Tube. I found a video that contained his testimony.

God Bless,
Rev Thomas

Maybe this is true, I don't know. This is the first time hearing about it. But even if he wasn't walking in Christ it does not take away from the truth that he did write about. He wrote "A man can no more diminish God's glory by refusing to worship him thana lunatic can put the sun out by scribbling the word "darkness" on the wall of his cell". Does this quote suddenly become wrong because he was not a christian at the time? I would say not. I am not saying that Lewis is some amazing person, I am saying that his works are amazing and informative. This thread isn't a discussion for his character but for his works. Now if you want to move on to his character than sure I am not the kind of person that feels as if the thread must stick with the op. I was just stating my view on defending him (or rather his works). That said I know nothing of his character, so if that is this threads direction than I will be content to just watch.
