• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Well, my doc changed my meds and I started them on Saturday. So far I feel horrible - which she warned me about. What I didn't anticipate is how horrible. I'm nauseated and dizzy and just generally feel crappy.

I'm wondering if anyone has had problems and found anything to help. I called my doc, and while they can give me something for the nausea, they can't give me anything for the dizzy.

On the positive side, I definitely will be likely to lose weight!

I have some good news.

I've been on this med a week now - this is the 8th day. I'm doing a lot better, though still dizzy at times and unsteady, the nausea is gone and my appetite is greatly suppressed! I've been having a hard time even eating a 1000 calories a day. It's amazing - I wish I'd tried it sooner.

Well, figured I'd just follow up. See ya's!

That's great Kristen! For some reason I didn't have any side affects at all on start up. And isn't it amazing about the eating. If I want to eat I have to stop taking the shot for a couple of days. I mean eat like a big meal. It is so strange how it just takes the appetite away.

Well, I'm so very glad for you! That's terrific!:hug:

That's about what happened to me. Unfortunately then I lost my job and Byetta is just way too expensive now. :(

I'm so sorry about your job and as well not being able to afford Byetta. I looked on their site to see if they have help and I understand you may not qualify but just in case here's the blurb and the link I pulled it from:

Patient Assistance Program: The Patient Assistance Program is available for patients prescribed BYETTA who do not have insurance for prescription drugs but meet residency, income, and diagnosis criteria. In order to be considered for the Patient Assistance Program, patients will need to complete an application form and provide information on financial status.

Take care Lel,

50 pounds is terrific! I've actually gained on Byetta due to also taking actos along with it. Actos being the cause.

So, hardly eat at all on byetta and gained 15 pounds in short period of time. Am in middle of switching off that med (actos) to stop this. Pain to not eat and gain.ugh..

Thanks for sharing and welcome to CF as well!:wave:

DID YOU KNOW??? You can actually REVERSE diabetes, (as well as many other common illnesses) with a simple change in diet!

Dr. Dean Ornish, Dr. Neal Barnard, and Dr. McDougall all agree that diabetes can be prevented and EVEN REVERSED with a healthy plant-based diet. That means no more meat, no more processed foods, etc...

Since I have stopped eating meat (about 19 years ago) I have gotten rid of my acne, my asthma, I have lost alot of weight, and I have never felt better!!
If you have any questions, or need recipes, or advise, feel free to conact me by PM

I tried Byetta for about two months. I had some nausea, but it wasn't as bad as what your saying. My doctor did say that the nausea would go away in time. She said that it is a natural hormone that is usually deficient in diabetics and until your body gets use to the new levels then you will be a little nauseated. She said most people claim that the best effects to lose weight is to use it about 20 minutes before you eat.
I stopped the Byetta after 2 months because it wasn't helping that much to get my numbers down and went back to insulin.

I've noticed my numbers are running a little higher than when I was on the Prandin, but I've been compensating by increasing my lantus (with doc approval). I have adjusted to the med now, so that part is going well. :D

Thanks for sharing your experience.
