  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I'm usually very generous giving money to the church, about 300 a month, so is it wrong for me to buy things that would please me, like an Xbox 360? I'm not wealthy at all mind you, so 300 a month is pretty generous. We all have our hobbies, I myself enjoy video games.

After tithing your money is yours....right? But as long as you're not spending an insane amount per month of video games instead of giving more to not only church, but other charities?? A difficult one but we need to do all we can to support our churches and Christian charities...

If it's wrong to buy a video game console, where do you draw the line as to what's allowed/not allowed? There's a lot stuff we spend money on that we don't actually need e.g. cinema/restaurants, surplus pairs of shoes, DVDs, TVs, books, holidays, computers, etc. Should we all live in the cheapest house possible, and consume nothing other than bread and water?

I think it's primarily about a mindset - e.g. remembering that our money is not actually ours but is supposed to be used for God. A modern analogy might be if you were the CEO of a company in which "God" held all the shares and provided all the funding (obviously this analogy is not perfect).
