  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I don't know if this is the right place to ask this but I'll do post this anyway. Feel free to redirect me tho.

I am still wondering whether or not I would buy a more convenient KJV Bible or keep my old one of the same version.

My reasons to keep the old one is due to the fact it was my first Bible I had personally, and its own sentimental value.

My reason to buy a new one is because I am quite vain about the little things. My old Bible had a tear from a failed attempt to paste thumb index on Leviticus. It left a bad tear after removing the index, which I repaired by pasting a wax paper (the very same from the back of sticker papers) of same texture and color.

I had been to all bookstores near my place and cannot make up my mind whether I would buy a new one or keep my current, long time, somewhat torn Bible. If you have any Bible repair tips that you can personally recommend, that will be great.

Blessings to you all!

I used to love and treasure my worn out, torn, pulled-apart KJV. It got tough to read after a while, though.

I use a massive, large print Catholic NAB now, with lots of pictures, and photographs. If it ever falls apart, I'll likely just keep it and try to be super gentle with it, or hunt for a new one.

If it's kind of falling apart in your hands, maybe buy a new copy. Otherwise, if it's still holdable and readable, and you want to stick with the old one, go ahead. Or, just get a less battered copy and keep the old copy as a shelf friend.

Google "Leonard's Bookstore" and look into having your old Bible rebound and repaired professionally. It may be expensive for some people, but worth it to some as well. I have had them do three of my Bibles. You can email them and check out their website and learn a lot, and enjoy it as well.

Both! And get one on audio too! LOL ok... I still have my original Bible from when I first accepted Christ--1967~ It has Bob Jones' and Jack Van Impe's signatures in it, though quite worn and tattered from use (that is a good thing you know?)

Keep it.
Get a new one. Fresh reading without any notes or distractions are good for the soul. I might suggest obtaining the NKJV though... New King James Version.

Hi
Keep it. But buy a new one too. I have the New Living Translation. Just explore which you prefer. I have two free ones on Kindle.

.
You should buy a NKJV Study Bible if you want to learn deeper about the Bible.

Eg at LUKE.21:20 and MATTHEW.24:15 & 24, the Lord Jesus Christ was prophesying about how the Roman Army would destroy the Holy Temple of Jerusalem in 70AD after the Jews had raised up false-christs for themselves to lead them into armed rebellion in their failed attempt to regain their kingdom of earth, ie Judah/Israel.(cf; JOHN.6:15, 1JOHN.2)
