  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Butterflies

I bought a field guide on butterflies and the photos were really huge. Then I went walking the other day and I saw a butterfly dead on the ground with ants eating its dead body (gross, I know) and I picked it up and I was dissappointed at how small it really was. Its wings were pink and brown. I took it home and added it to my collection. Then I remember scolding myself and thinking, Jacqueline, why on earth did you think that butterflies would be as big as they were in the book you bought?

:blush::o

Out in our garden we mostly get these small white butterflies, I wanted more variety, but the second kind I keep seeing is black and it looks like the night sky but it hardly appears to me at all.

I guess I'm bothered by how tiny butterflies really are. I thought they'd be bigger, but I can fit most of them in my hand.

Several of them are actually pretty big. I have seen several forms of butterflies from tropical regions can actually grow to be the size of saucers and small plates. In the U.S., I have seen several species that would pretty much cover up the average person's hand.

Keep looking, and you will find the big fellas.
