im sure im among the biggest what iffers here!
i am turning to christ! i am learning about christ! i am a fresh new believer UNTIL..........all of a sudden i think WHAT IF.....i dont believe?
WHAT IF.....im lying to jesus just to be saved?

hey feeona,

I can relate to how you are feeling as can many other people on here. The only advice that I can really give you and I'm trying to do it.. is just trust in Jesus. He is the only one that can help you with this. You just have to trust Him that He will. Also remember that you wouldn't be here worried about it if you really didn't believe. Pray to God about it and He will help you. He will show you what's in your heart and will guide you along the way with your relationship with Him. Don't ever give up you are far to precious to God. Praying for you.

but what if, but what if, but what if-----I could go on forever... (and I have before, hehe) But really think about it. Does the thought that you dont really believe scare you?? What are you scared of (because if you really didnt believe in God, why would you believe in/be scared of Hell??) I hope I make sense. You are fine, this is common among Christians, pray & pray.

Hey Feeona,
You're on an OCD forum and therefore the words, "but what if", are three of the most common ones we OCD'ers say to ourselves.
When the "what if's" stab at our faith in Christ, this type of OCD can really be excruciating.
What drew you to the OCD forum? Have you ever had this kind of intense or relentlessfear about other things in your past? Just wondering if you have OCD.

I feel for you hunny!! I saw a counselor & she treated me for anxiety but she never really told me if I was OCD, all she said was ,"Yes, you definatly have those tendancies."...so I always get the ,"what if this is me, & I dont ahve ocd??"

Well that it explains the reason for your misery.
You have OCD and as I'm sure you know it will attach itself to anything and everything that is precious to you.
It's important right now that you give this question the label of OCD. It's not valid or legititmate it's just your OCD flaring up and latching onto your faith in order to get you into the obsessional/compulsive cycle. Best way to kill it is to ignore it.

Hey Caty,
Lot's of professionals miss the diagnosis of OCD. It's not at all unusual to go undiagnosed for many years. I was diagnosed with Anxiety disorder but I pretty much self diagnosed my OCD. Pure "O" isn't as easy to see as the kind of OCD that includes outward compulsive rituals.

But what if. What if you were born a boy. what if you were born in China. what if you were never born?

What if is not truth. Truth is you were born a girl. Truth is you were led to CF. Truth is God knew you from before the foundation of the world.

Right now. Do you believe I am a real man? (old too) LOL. Do you believe that The sun comes up each day?

Then believe that God is real. and if God is real then his word is real and his promises for you are real. If you believed when you became a Christian then you are a Christian and saved regardless how how your ocd lies to you now.

Just remember that OCD lies to you. You are saved and your future is secure. It isnt based on how sure you are. It is based on Jesus and how sure He is!
