So far, there hasn't been a single person who said "No" who actually gave legitimate reasons to support their conclusion, save for the emotional reasons of Drops~of~Jupiter. It also seems that most of the "No" responses come from people living outside of the United States, where anti-U.S. sentiment seems to be running rampant.

Personally, I just think France, Germany, and Belgium are being pansies, and that they probably don't want to attack Iraq, because then they'd have terrorists coming after them too. The U.S. has given more than enough proof that Saddam is still trying to produce weapons of mass destruction as well as having ties with terrorist networks (This is further supported by a recent tape, supposedly of Bin Laden, calling all Muslims to defend Iraq and even attack Americans through suicide missions).

For their courage, both the U.S. and Britain are on "High Alert," especially with hajj coming to an end this very week, making it prime time for attacks from terrorists. I'd rather face the consequences of courage (like the U.S. and Britain are) than face the shame of cowardice (Like Germany, France, and Belgium are).

TamTam92,
Hey, you're from France, right? What's the deal with anti-American sentiment being spread like fire over there? Need I remind France that we rescued them from Germany back in World War 2? And what's all this about not wanting to go to war with Iraq given the irrefutable proof the U.S. has presented against them? I also heard that the French were giving Iraq a "heads up" on where the U.N. Inspectors were headed so that the Iraqis could prepare to deceive them once again. What in the world?

hey jedi dont forget it was us who rebulit france after the war see if it wasnt for us tam tam you whoudnt have a country and you whould be a bar of soap if hittler suceeded i guess that means france is part of the the axis of weasels becasue they sure aint our allies , but if they want something from us they are at our door step begging like a dog begging for a treat

My view point is different from what I have heard in the media and from others, but I have posted it on a few conservative message boards, and many seem to agree with this.

First off I want to point out that I like GWB as a person.  I think he truly believes in everything he says, and although is cognizant of the fact that he needs to be politically correct in what he talks about, he would never say anything he didn’t believe in.

I believe this war with Iraq is nothing more then the politics of staying in power when your economy is slowing down.  This is not a war for oil, and not a war to get rid of Saddam Hussein.  Economic downturns almost always have led to the changing of the political guard in this country, be it a change of parties in the White House (usually), to a shift in political line in congress.  Not that the current economic state of this country is a result of the Republicans, but they would get blamed for this by the public in general.  You only have to look back 10 years to GWB father to see what happens when a downturn in the economy is the number one issue when it comes to your re-election.

I truly think that senior republican advisors in the summer of 2002 decided after getting some credible reports on Iraqi weapons programs decided that their best chance at securing re-election for the republicans in 2002 and 2004 was to keep public attention away from the economy and towards global threats of terrorism and proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.  These are honorable goals, and necessary for the security of the people of the United States.  Knowing a lot of what happened with the last round of inspections in Iraq, the advisors felt certain that Iraq would quickly be found in to be violating existing UN resolutions, and that we could leverage that to start a long campaign in Iraq to remove Saddam and institute a new government.

Noticed I said republican advisors.  I don’t believe GWB is the kind of person who would instigate a war for political ends.  I DO believe he thinks he is doing the right thing by forcing the issue of removing Saddam from control of Iraq.  I don’t think any country thinks that an Iraq without Saddam is not a better place.  So GWB thinks this cause is a just one, maybe even a righteous one.

This is all great, unless Iraq does go ahead and destroys any evidence they have of these weapons, and falls in compliance with the UN.  I believe this is a possibility of where we are at now.  Is it right for the US to continue with its war if no weapons are found?  Is the removal of Saddam justification enough for the death of hundreds, maybe thousands of US soldiers?  Is it justification for the possible death of 100,000s of Iraqi soldiers?

In the end, I am not happy with the way we are handling things.  I do not believe the weakening of the US credibility in the international community is worth the political game we are playing.  I believe in the long run, removal of people like Saddam is less important then changing attitudes to the US in the Islamic world.  Although we may succeed in the former, the damage to the later is not worth the price.
