Bush actually scored a few points higher on his SAT than me (I made a 1200, Bush made a 1206), and he scored higher on his ASVAB, the military IQ test than both John Kerry and Nicholas Vara (me) according to the New York Times.

According to Bush's record his IQ hovers around 120. Mine according to the military hovers around 116. The GT score which measures apptitude not what you know is something that Mr. Bush out scored both me and Mr. Kerry on at roughly the same age for all three of us. I scored a 119 which means my IQ is between 115 and 120, but an IQ test I took later placed it at 116. You only need a 110 to be an officer, apparently the President scored in the high 120's according to the NewYorkTimes. I guess he ant as stupid as we thinks.

And I'm smarter than all three of you.

However, what I don't understand it this - according to your score (119) you were between 115 and 120 (turns out that 116 was the number) - yet somehow this guy is able to place Bush at "mid 120s" and Kerry at "about 120" so at most theres probably 6-7 points in it based on a test that seems to only roughly accurate anyway?

Not that any of it is relevant - IQ is a measure of appitude on IQ tests really.

Could well be. It just goes to show the power of appearances.

Wow, alot of people have a IQ higher than me, which is amazing, since above average IQ ends at 115. 116 to 120 is considered gifted. But hey, if you've got the scores to prove it. Apparently everyone on this board is gifted or higher. For some reason Im not believing it.

Well, it's not exactly atypical to see an unusual density of smart people on computers... And of course, we have sampling error, in that the people who aren't smarter than that are unlikely to post bragging about it! :)

I don't think you understand the IQ scale, though. 115 is a standard deviation out. Yeah, arguably that's the end of "average", but really, there's a pretty large number of people in the 115-130 range. I think it's, what, about 2% over 140-145? But an awful lot of "just sorta smart".

I know this BBS has at least two people solidly over 150, and at least one outside the range of the standardized test. (So, "somewhere past 175".)

I honestly don't know if my IQ can be placed exactly at 116.. The highest score I have recieved was a 124, but I like to err on the side of caution, 116 was the score I recieved in High School, the military called it at 119. President Bush and I both have "High Intelligence" 115 - 130. But President Bush is almost superior intelligence. Less than 2 in a 100 people in this country get that high.

I've managed a 139 on an online test (iqtest.com I think) but the two proper standardised tests I've taken have been 132 and 134, and I scored 127 in 'Test The Nation' a televised IQ test a while ago (apparently almost all participants scored lower on that test compared to others)

I think I could run a country, but I don't really want to.

It would be intresting to see research on how accurate the online ones are. I have never taken one but I always assumed it was something to get you to pay money.

The SAT isn't a good measure of intelligence since there has been score inflation. I scored a 1350 on the SAT, but if I scored that high at the same time Bush took it, I would be in MENSA.
Mensa no longer accepts SAT scores for membership. Though at the time Bush took his SAT, I believe they did.

Hehe, I'm smarter than Bush as well. If I only had some resemblance of social skills I could really get somewhere with my life. Unfortunately not many people are willing to pay you to take IQ tests though.

Oh well, I'm quite good with computers as well, just in case the job market is finally starting to pick up and some of you guys are hiring.

I know people in MENSA, and frankly I don't think I'd want to be a member.

We have no similar standardised tests in New Zealand schooling, so I can't imagine what I might have scored. Mind you, I dropped out of high school at about 16 anyway, so I might not have even made it that far.

Er, no. 2% is 135+, not 125. That's an entire standard deviation off. 130 is 97.725 percentile, which is "more than 2 in 100".

They're about as accurate as you could expect from an unsupervised test with questions you may have already seen before.

Last time I took one, the number I got was in the same range as my "real" test scores, pretty much. It was a little lower, but then, I wasn't paying full attention to the test.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the one I took was at iqtest.com

I had a little trouble when I did it, as it makes reference to specificallt Amecian things (US currency, quarters, nickels dimes etc and imperial measurements).

There are also many other tests I have taken online, but most I think are of the sort that cannot be discussed on these forums.

I think it depends on whose website you are using seebs, the one I followed that sycophant posted had 130 in the one in two area.

Yeah, but it's easy enough to do the raw math to see what has to happen.

And if you actually work out the numbers, 130 has to be a little under the bar for 2%.... Of course, not all IQ tests are calibrated to the same formal standard, which makes it a little more confusing.

On the theoretical norm (100, +/-15% per standard deviation), 130 is clearly too far in for the 2% mark; 135-140 is about right.

Allright, did the iqtest.com one:
Thank you for taking the IQ Test at www.IQTest.com.

We are confirming that your IQ Test score was: 158
That's slightly higher than what I've gotten on www.highiqsociety.com (which is the low 150's, and these tests look fairly decent to me). On other online tests I've scored between the mid 130's and low 160's, allthough some of the tests were fairly poorly designed methinks, so I won't put too much emphasis on them. Oh, and my native language isn't english.

Still, social skills :sigh:

I just did the IQtest.com one (wasn't the same one I had done previously, so I don't know what that one was) and I got 146... Go figure. I wasn't even paying attention to the last 4 or 5 questions as I have to go have lunch now.
