I heard that something was going to happen today that will effect every person living on this planet. I also heard that this will be our last election. Then I saw on the news that they are burning ballots. I wonder if we can expect the usual copy cat crime that follows.

My question is this: How can we have an election when the whole system seems to be rigged? Former President Donald Trump and his allies made numerous attempts to challenge the results of the 2020 election, filing over 60 lawsuits. However, these efforts were largely unsuccessful, with courts consistently finding no substantial evidence of widespread voter fraud. Pro or Con, they could not prove their case. Can we really know if the election results are fair and just.

The 2000 U.S. presidential election between George W. Bush and Al Gore was indeed a dramatic and contentious event. The term "hanging chads" refers to partially punched ballot cards that caused significant confusion and controversy during the Florida recount. The U.S. Supreme Court ultimately intervened in the case Bush v. Gore, halting the recount and effectively deciding the election in favor of Bush. It was a pivotal moment in American electoral history, highlighting the complexities and challenges of the voting process.

Reminds me of Don McLean song "American pie". Or Bob Dylan's "The Times They Are A-Changin'"b
"Levee" was a bar that went out of business when the owner died.

So, bye-bye, Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee, but the levee was dry
And them good ol' boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
Singin', "This'll be the day that I die
This'll be the day that I die"

How do you, after saying the courts consistently found no evidence, say that "pro or con, they could not prove their case"? It seems that one side (the side saying there wasn't this massive voter fraud) proved their case while the other (the one claiming there was this massive voter fraud) failed to do so, at least in the view of the courts, which is exactly why the courts so consistently ruled in the same way.

It’s often challenging to definitively prove or disprove complex scientific and political issues, especially when they involve nuanced data and interpretations. When it comes to controversial topics like virus research funding or election fraud claims, the evidence presented may not always satisfy all parties or lead to a clear consensus.

I like Don McLean "American Pie", though Neil Diamond - "Sweet Caroline" is another good song from that decade, or Van Morrison - "Brown Eyed Girl". So, thank you for the classic 1970s pop references, but only "American Pie" references how the times changes.

But, as a centrist moderate, I would say that both sides may be messing with each other this election, so no party will be excused. If we want to worry, we should worry about the Russians.

The burning of ballots I think is the beginning of change, over the next two or three years everyone will be effected.

AI and a lot of other factors play into this. Of course this is a new generation and this is their world to do what they want. We did what we did back in our time.

We will have to see what happens over not the next two or three years, but what happens over the next 5-10 years, as it is better to gauge a trend over multiple elections compared to just one or two. I am in no position to figure out what is going on, cos I early voted, and did not use any ballot boxes, and I do not follow politics that closely.

I do not get involved in political discussions that much. I wanted to see what people had to say about this issue and no one had started a thread yet, so I went ahead and started one.

Can I place this question to the AI, that has learned US Law, and see if it can fare better than me? And yes, the machine also has learned a bit of geoscience as well, so if you want to join me in the physical sciences forum one of these days to discuss rocks and minerals (astronomy and sometimes geology were my favorite subjects as a kid), feel free to.

My prompt will be: "How can the US election be determined to be fair, and what are ways to mitigate election interference. Finally, what charges could be brought for someone who tampers with ballot boxes?"

Here you go, @Diamond72 . The machine did a decent job, and used the United States Code as well as a textbook on public law.

Of course AI is political correct and does not want to step on anyone's toes. The prophecy was that something was going to happen on the 29th of October that within two or three years would effect everyone in the world. Perhaps that prophecy is wrong. Lots of people said Trump won the election with Biden and it turned out that he did not win that election. It was pretty much just one lie after another.

I attended a church where they would zerox every prophecy the pastor wrote and offered an open challenge for anyone to prove anything to not be true. No one ever did. Even he lived to be 100.

Deuteronomy 18:21-22 (NIV): You may say to yourselves, “How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the LORD?” If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously, so do not be alarmed.

This passage suggests that one way to discern a true prophet from a false one is by the fulfillment of their prophecies.

It’s often challenging to definitively prove or disprove complex scientific and political issues, especially when they involve nuanced data and interpretations.
It's also often challenging to definitively disprove made up nonsense, especially when the claims vague are made without any evidence. And in the case of claims of election fraud, when the people making them change their minds about making the claims in venues where there are legal penalties for not telling the truth.

Luckily we've developed other standards of evaluating claims like these which are more useful than "definitively disprove".

Yeah, I could have asked it to relate to scripture, but I do not like prophecy, as there are too many false prophets nowadays to discern a true one from a fake one. The only prophecies that have come to pass entirely are the Old Testament prophecies of Jesus. :) However, some prophecies of Daniel have become true, such as an increase in technology.

Right now it is October 29th. We will have to see what happens on October 30th if anything has come to pass.

I also heard that this will be our last election.
Yes,, Mr. Trump repeatedly said this whether he wins or looses. Now the question is...do you believe him?
Blessings

Edit: Newspaper eschatology has no place in the Gospel of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

I don't follow your logic. There were 60 rulings where courts did not find any evidence of substantial voter fraud. How much more do you require to believe that the election was just? 600? 6000?

The logic is there COULD have been voter fraud. But they did not have enough evidence. The system is broken and it can not be fixed. It reminds me of the Keystone cops: The Keystone Cops were a group of comically incompetent policemen featured in silent film comedies of the early 20th century. Despite their best efforts, their bumbling actions and slapstick mishaps always led to chaos and hilarity.

What evidence is there that it is broken?

Honestly what is broken is people's trust in the electoral system, not that the system is broken. People think their vote should count more than other people's and they are not happy when a vote doesn't go the way they voted.

It is likely someone who does not want the votes for those cities (both rather liberal) to get counted. It just goes to show people are way too invested and emotional in who wins that they will destroy people's ballots.
The article says they think they have a video of the car. They will get at least 5 years in prison. The say all three were done by the same person. A conservative because the votes destroyed were most likely liberal.
