• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

janforjesus3: well ,,,,,
Horselover0302: I mean the whole family
janforjesus3: everyone is always asking what can they do
janforjesus3: so
Horselover0302: Want me to call every body
?
janforjesus3: i think we need to let his need be know
Horselover0302: I will
janforjesus3: send his address out ther to people and ask people to pray and ask God what He would have them do
janforjesus3: but
Horselover0302: I think between all of us, Wilsons, Allbaughs, Jones , Kirks, we should be able to do it
Horselover0302: good friends, powells, pratts, all of his friends
janforjesus3: he also was saying that Ashly broke her glasses and that was going to cost them 200 or so $......
janforjesus3: i guess the service doesn't pay for her glasses
Horselover0302: oh my gosh....I had a dream, that Ashley got mad at one of her doctors appts and broke her glasses!
janforjesus3: so
Horselover0302: I told David and Amy about it
Horselover0302: oh my
Horselover0302: weird
janforjesus3: I talked to Jamie briefly and ask her to call me today when Rocky wasn't around...
janforjesus3: and I will find out for sure what there needs are
janforjesus3: Rocky was really down and did'nt want me to even talk to him about getting him help
janforjesus3: says he needs to take care of his family
Horselover0302: ok mom
Horselover0302: Well, I'll do whatever you need me to do, I'll make calls, I'll go to D.C, whatever, I'll do it...
janforjesus3: i wrote down 40 names last night in a matter of a couple of min and if 40 people gave 50 bucks thats 2000 and if 80 gave 25
janforjesus3: and so on
janforjesus3: I know ther are many who would give more and
Horselover0302: ok...I'll do what I can on this end...
janforjesus3: some that couldn't give that much
Horselover0302: right
Horselover0302: You know me, get me fired up....
janforjesus3: but I know there are many many people that would be glad to help
Horselover0302: I can get it done
janforjesus3: and
Horselover0302: I agree, nobody can do it all, I'd love to have 3000 dollars layin around...gosh I wish I did
janforjesus3: I think people need his address to personaly send him a note of encouragement with what ever they can give he needs to see that people want to help thats what it's all about
Horselover0302: worrying isn't going to help his therapy
janforjesus3: send him a note
janforjesus3: exactly
Horselover0302: yeah, but I'm afraid it will get spent a little here and a little there...we could still send him all of the cards...just have al;l of the cash counted and in one big lump sum
Horselover0302: a big one for the van and a little one for ash angels glasses
janforjesus3: I told him needs to focus on one thing and thats getting through this next few weeks without worrying about anything but getting better
Horselover0302: Well, I have people here that will help too...
Horselover0302: We can right down names and addresses of them, how much they gave, and we could even buy some thankyou cards for Rock and Jamey to send out, and have them stamped, so they didn't have that expense too...
janforjesus3: sounds like a plan
janforjesus3: I think this needs to come from some one initialy besides me
Horselover0302: Do you agree with the money thing though or not, I just know there have to be a million little things that need done, and I know how easy it would be to spend a little here and a little there, and then not have all the $ for the van...
janforjesus3: I will do all I can but I think maybe even a friend would be good too to get something like this started
Horselover0302: I don't care where it comes from, the sooner it gets done, the more encouraged Rocky will be, and thats what we need...
janforjesus3: well I agree about the money alot of times something like this gets sent to a fund like a bank account or something like that
Horselover0302: I just think that might take too much time...
janforjesus3: ok
Horselover0302: We just need to gather it, and maybe let Tracy and Kev give it to him
janforjesus3: I am leaving this in your hands
janforjesus3: is that a burden or what
Horselover0302: not a burden, I'd do anything for Rocky
Horselover0302: It really isn't
Horselover0302: he motivates me
Horselover0302: I want so much for him to be ok mom
Horselover0302: I can't bear to think about it
janforjesus3: what do you want me to do
Horselover0302: get me names and phone numbers, I'll do the rest
janforjesus3: ok
Horselover0302: ok
janforjesus3: email would probaly be the quickest
janforjesus3: and you know how things spread like wildfire on email
Horselover0302: I love you mom...we'll get Rocky through this, God will bring Rocky through this, we just have to be there to sometimes carry him when he can't walk on his own
Horselover0302: ok, I'll compose a letter
janforjesus3: I know
janforjesus3: my heart hurts beyond anything I have ever experienced
Horselover0302: I know mama
Horselover0302: I can only imagine really
Horselover0302: imagining one of my own babies...
janforjesus3: I love you
Horselover0302: I love you too, I wish I was there to hug you right now
janforjesus3: you are
Horselover0302: It's all gonna be ok mom, no matter what, either way, it will be ok...
Horselover0302: we HAVE to be strong for him...
Horselover0302: you need to take care of your health too
janforjesus3: I told him that last night
janforjesus3: I believe this is a test of our true faith
janforjesus3: we must not waiver no matter what it looks like
Horselover0302: I know mom
janforjesus3: we must stand against this attack of satan to make us doubt
janforjesus3: God is able
Horselover0302: I agree, but that doesn't mean you won't have your moments mom, I know you, and don't beat yourself up, you're only human, with human emotions and human fears...
janforjesus3: I told rock the same thing last night
Horselover0302: you always get strong again, but don't think when you worry thats a sign of your lack of faith
janforjesus3: that we all get depressed from time to time and
Horselover0302: it's just you bein a mom
Horselover0302: and me being a sister
janforjesus3: he more than any of us had the right to get depressed
horselover0302: absolutely
janforjesus3: but that he needs to move on past that and stay stong for his family as well as himself
janforjesus3: ok
janforjesus3: one of things he mentioned was they have to travel about 80 miles a day
Horselover0302: I know, it's forever to the hospital from where they are

Praying Lori! For God to give you courage and strength and the words to help convince your family and friends to help out your brother. And also for your brother and continued healing, physical, emotionally and spiritually. Would it be any comfort to him to have some of us here send him an e-mail or card to let him know we are praying for him and for his family through this? I know giving out that type of information may be touchy (and I understand), so I will leave it up to you!

Thankyou for the prayers. We thought about a small cheap car, but with Ashley, and all of special needs, including her wheelchair, we decided this would be the best route to take.

I have someone getting me all of names and numbers of the repair places in Edgewater. I'm going to contact GM's and vice presidents and presidents if I have too!,and see if someone won't give them a break.

God will provide. I'm actually excited, looking forward to the thrill of watching the Lord work!

Thanks guys for your encouragement!

I am so proud of my mama. Always trying to be uplifting and encouraging, when I know inside, her heart is so sad...she sent this to me a moment ago, and wanted to share it with you!

Just sent this to Rock, originally this was a mother and daughter but I changed it to son. Hope this will help Rocky, Love you, Mom

Carrot, Egg, Coffee bean

A young man went to his mother and told her about his life and how things were so hard for him. He did not know how he was going to make it and wanted to give up. He was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as one problem was solved a new one arose. His mother took him to the kitchen.

She filled three pots with water. In the first, she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs and the last she placed ground coffee beans. She let them sit and boil without saying a word. In about twenty minutes she turned off the burners. She fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl. She pulled the eggs out and placed
them in a bowl. Then she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl.

Turning to her son, she asked, "Tell me what do you see?" "Carrots, eggs, and coffee," he replied. She brought him closer and asked him to feel the carrots. He did and noted that they got soft. She then asked him to take an egg and break it. After pulling off the shell, he observed the hard-boiled egg. Finally, she asked him to sip the coffee. The son smiled, as he tasted its rich aroma. The son then asked. "What's the point, mother?"

His mother explained that each of these objects had faced the same adversity--boiling water--but each reacted differently. The carrot went in strong, hard and unrelenting. However after being subjected to the boiling water, it softened and became weak. The egg had been fragile. Its thin outer shell had protected its liquid interior. But, after sitting through the boiling water, its inside became hardened. The ground coffee beans were unique, however. After they were in the boiling water they had changed the water.

"Which are you?" she asked her son. "When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a carrot, an egg, or a coffee bean?"
Think of this: Which am I?

Am I the carrot that seems strong, but with pain and adversity, do I wilt and become soft and lose my strength?

Am I the egg that starts with a malleable heart, but changes with the heat?Did I have a fluid spirit, but after a death, a breakup, a financial hardship or some other trial, have I become hardened and stiff? Does my shell look the same, but on the inside am I bitter and tough with a stiff spirit and a hardened heart?

Or am I like the coffee bean? The bean actually changes the hot
water, the very circumstance that brings the pain. When the water gets hot, it releases the fragrance and flavor. If you are like the bean, when things are at their worst, you get better and change the situation around you.

When the hours are the darkest and trials are their greatest do you elevate to another level?

How do you handle Adversity?
ARE YOU A CARROT, AN EGG, OR A COFFEE BEAN?
Don't tell GOD how big your storm is. Tell the storm how big your GOD is!

May GOD BLESS YOU ABUNDANTLY! I LOVE YOU SON!!! MOMA

I talked to my brother last night. He is feeling "hopeless", are his words. Through all of this through the start, he has been so strong, stronger then all of us. His pride is wounded so deeply. It is like nothing else he has ever been through, to not be able to provide for his family. Please lift him up today, please.

On an awesome praise note...everyone that I called yesterday, is more then willing and happy to help my brother. And I have had him added to so many more prayer chains.

I sent letters to the president( about Rocks treatment from the airforce after 8 years) the vice president, Gov.Taft, Mayor Coleman of Columbus...I sent letters to all of the car dealers in Columbus, trying to get a donation of a wheelchair accessible van, even a used one...and called half of the churches in the Columbus area (gosh there are alot) and had his name added to their prayer requests.

I think we, as christians, have so much power in our hands! We have the blood of Jesus, and so many times, out of lack of faith, or lack of conviction, or fear of being rejected, we shy away from battles we COULD WIN! I will not back down, and I am asking all of you to be with me throught his, continue, as you have done so beautifully, in prayer for my Rocky.

The last thing he said to me last night was" I juts want to wake up tomorrow and feel better. I've been in this slump for the last 2 days, and I just want to feel better tomorrow."

Pray for his tomorrows, for his today.

Thankyou all, Lori

You don't know how much I need that carrot, egg, and coffee bean story. I'm going through my own storm right now. I'll start telling my storm how big My God is and I know I'll get through it. I know what it is like not to be able to fully provide for family as much as I felt was needed. It really, really hurts. I was at a point not too long ago where I was supporting my mom and brother after my step-dad left us. But God got us through it and I have faith that God Will get you all through this storm in ya'lls life. I'll be praying for you and your family and I pray everything gets better. You've made my day with that story, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart, God bless you.

In Christ,
Anna
