• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Bullying

Have you ever been bullied at work? My supervisor is a bully. It's been one of those weeks where it's wearing me out. It's subtle and moderate behavior on her part but I don't think it's in my head. I feel like I've been 'stronger' around her lately so maybe she is trying new tactics? I don't know. Instead of being direct with me about something it's almost like she "talks in code". Maybe she feels she is being kinder going about it that way?? Another thing is, I don't trust her. She's talking about stuff in the office - other secretaries honestly - and I just don't know if what's she is saying is true. I have caught her myself in minor lies... or at least she'll change a story depending on the day. I think she's maybe trying to 'scare' me...well, it's kind of working. :( This is ridiculous. The bible says don't fear man!! Just remembered. I don't feel I can report it because it is so subtle it's hard to prove. And it seems mostly targeted at me, compared with other co-workers.

The thing is, she knows I'm working on school, towards a different career. Maybe that threatens her??? I don't know. I'm also one of those basically nice people who doesn't cause trouble. I hear 'bullies' sometimes prey on those kinds. Anyway, any kind of encouragement you can offer to lift my spirits would be MUCH appreciated. Thank you.

Leviticus 19:18

You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against the sons of your own people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord.

2 Timothy 1:7

For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.

Romans 12:19-20

Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.”

Matthew 5:43-48

“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same?

Deuteronomy 31:6
Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”

Matthew 5:11

“Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account.

Psalm 18:3

I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies.

Isaiah 41:11-13

Behold, all who are incensed against you shall be put to shame and confounded; those who strive against you shall be as nothing and shall perish. You shall seek those who contend with you, but you shall not find them; those who war against you shall be as nothing at all. For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.”

Isaiah 54:15-17

If anyone stirs up strife, it is not from me; whoever stirs up strife with you shall fall because of you. Behold, I have created the smith who blows the fire of coals and produces a weapon for its purpose. I have also created the ravager to destroy; no weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall confute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their vindication from me, declares the Lord.”

Romans 12:18

If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.

Proverbs 29:25

The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is safe.

Hebrews 13:6

So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”

Matthew 10:28

And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

Psalm 118:8

It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man.

1 John 4:4

Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

Philippians 4:6-7

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
