We have a minor infestation of bugs here. They are small, green, disgustingly ugly little bugs. We seem to get them every year. They are a real nuisance. They are constantly into things, getting in the way, did I mention that they are disgusting? We call these creatures "dew bugs" (some call them "ewww" bugs).
One fortunate thing is that the spiders seem to love these things. They gobble them up spic and span.

Well I was in my kitchen and I noticed one of these dew bugs walking across the floor. I looked at his path and realized that he was heading right for a spider's web. Don't ask me why, but for some reason I pitied it. I didn't want it to get killed. I decided to save it, but I found a dilemna. If I moved my foot to get to it and scoop it onto a piece of paper the vibrations would scare it and it would run headlong into death. I realized that I couldn't move towards it. I started wondering how exactly I could stop this thing. I realized that between it and I there was really no way for me to communicate with it. If only I could tell it, "Stop, you're heading towards death." Mabey if I yelled at it, it would veer away, more likely it would run into the web scared senseless.

It dawned on me that there was really no way for me to talk to it. I at once thought, "I suppose the only way would be for me to become a dew bug (as gross as they are), go down there and communicate with it on it's own level. Then I could tell it, in whatever way they communicate with each other, "hey stop, you're going to die if you keep going that way. Get off that path! Follow me and I'll lead you to safety." Mabey then it would listen to me.

Then again, mabey it wouldn't.

He would probably hate you. After all, he comes from a family of bugs that have studied the benefits of spider webs for many generations. Who are you to tell him any different? What makes you so knowledgable? You're just a common bug - he's educated.

Your post brought up memories of a delemma I had a while back. I was carrying in buckets of coal when I noticed a small wasp sitting right in the middle of the basement steps. It would be hazardous for me to attempt to step over or around it, mainly because I had 80 pounds of dead weight (40 in each hand) to consider. What was I to do?
