  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am slowly putting together a devotion-like book...here is one of the entries.

"Driving, a wonderful privilege one partakes in on the road of life. A road full of hills, curves, and turns. Full attention is necessary when traveling down this road so we can be ready for whatever obstacle approaches you. Whether it is an animal in the road or something that can distract your attention from the road. Another thing one has to be careful about when driving is looking too long in the rearview mirror. Yes, it is a crucial and pivotal thing to have when driving, but at the same time it can be a major stumbling block. If one looks too long in the mirror he will lose focus on the road and begin to swerve—or even better put, try driving by just looking at your rearview mirror (but not on a busy highway). It can’t be done, for one thing it is a natural reflex to look back on the road because we don’t want to have an accident. It is like our minds are conditioned to always wanting to know where we are going. However, our spiritual mind does not work like this. Yes, we would like to know where we are heading in our spiritual walk, but we aren’t conditioned to do anything about it. If we look back at a past experience, whether it is a bad relationship, a past sin that we have a hard time forgiving ourselves for, it is fine if it is for a short time and we are able to move on from it, to grow from it. Looking back at past events is like looking back at the “rearview mirror” of life, if we look at those events too long, and try to drive while only looking at the past we will not be ready for anything else that approaches us. And we will also begin to swerve in our Christian life. Philippians 3:13: “Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”
