I just watched it a few days ago, and I loved it! I wasn't expecting much, but was very pleased with the movie. It was funny, yet gave you something to think about. I thought it was so interesting how Bruce used his powers ultimately for himself, and then realized how much affect they had on the entire world. It made me realize that God does know best, and can't always just answer prayers with a simple email "yes"!

As a comedy film, it was very good. Nice humor and Carrey stole the show as always.

From a Christian standpoint, it had a nice message. Nothing spectacular, but it had some very solid theology thoughout. I really liked the part about making someone love you without affecting their freewill.

Here is what I wrote about the movie on another message board:

Some people might not be pleased by the movie's contents, but if you just forget about the things that you might find offensive (like swearing and blasphemy), it is a pretty good movie. Some dull scenes, but very funny. I found the ending to be very moving, and it taught me a few things like praying for others and not blaming God for anything that goes wrong in my life (not that I blamed God for anything).

Synopsis: Jim Carrey stars as Bruce Nolan who is unsatisfied with his job and his life. He believes that God is intentionally making his life miserable and that he can do a better job of running the world. God shows him the error in his thinking by giving him powers.

I just read that there will be a sequel to this movie called "The Passion of the Ark"

Sure, it's all rumor at this point, but still. This flick could be turned into a Bruce Almighty sequel, with Jim Carrey returning. The script started as an unrelated project, but Sony purchased it with hopes of redrafting it into the second Almighty. Early talks are under way. (Variety)

Apparently it's suppose to be a movie on a second flood. Should be interesting how this turns out.
