Brought Low

Do not be surprised if on occasion you find a need for comfort and refreshing
The apostle Paul at times felt like the scum of the earth.
He was brought low through intermingling with the very people whom he loved and to whom he was called to minister.
At other times, his circumstances of daily living and travel brought him low.
And yet, Paul is the one who wrote most about joy and rejoicing.
I tell you it is not a disgrace to be brought low.
Instead, find the pearl of great price in the experience. Learning humility towards one another is a difficult yet essential quality for those who would glory in the cross before them in the presence of others. Brought low.

2 Corinthians 7:6
But God, who comforts the depressed, comforted us by the coming of Titus.
2 Corinthians 7:13
For this reason we have been comforted. And besides our comfort, we rejoiced even much more for the joy of Titus, because his spirit has been refreshed by you all."

Even Jesus, on the cross repeated the word's David once wrote:

Psalm 22




1 My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?
Why are You so far from helping Me,
And from the words of My groaning?
2 O My God, I cry in the daytime, but You do not hear;
And in the night season, and am not silent.

14 I am poured out like water,
And all My bones are out of joint;
My heart is like wax;
It has melted within Me.
15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd,
And My tongue clings to My jaws;
You have brought Me to the dust of death.

16 For dogs have surrounded Me;
The congregation of the wicked has enclosed Me.
They pierced[c] My hands and My feet;
17 I can count all My bones.
They look and stare at Me.
18 They divide My garments among them,
And for My clothing they cast lots.

But then look....David was raised up to be king after being so lowly...and Jesus was raised from the dead...

When things look so bleak our Lord does know how we feel...but He sees the glory we will reach through Him. Like a lump of blacken coal turned into a diamond.
