Brothers and Sisters, is it TIME FOR WRATH???

Is it Time to start Preaching the Wrath of God???

  • Yes! Preach the Word!!! Wrath is part of God's message.

  • No. I do not think this is good for God's people or heathen.

  • Maybe, I'm not sure if we need to go this harsh.

  • Not yet. We should hold off for a few more years.

  • I am a heathen and hate this kind of preaching.

Weak.

The only killing that we are talking about is GOD hurling you into the lake of fire, which is the "Second Death".

If you look at it, it would be the most TERRIFYING thing ever to realize that you are being chucked into the Lake of Fire!!! The realization at that point when you are 100% clear and aware that you are being hurled into a place with NO ESCAPE and it is filled with fire! Wham! Now your are there, and screaming because of the pain, and you are 100% in realization that you can't do anything to stop this from going on. Your in sheer TERROR. Knowing that this is it. There is no forgiveness or Mercy that is going to be shown to you; EVER!!! THE TIME OF MERCY IS DONE, AND YOU HAVE ABSOLUTELY NONE COMING TO YOU!!! You can't beg or ask for anything from GOD. He has thrown you completely away like trash and are in a fire dump. You are nothing but eternal burning filth, worthy of only GOD'S contempt!!!! That is absolutely TERRIFYING!

Only weeping and gnashing of teeth!!!

Yea, that is terror.
You won't scare me into submission.

To have the understanding of the Word, ask the AUTHOR of the Word. :)

Which author? There were a lot of them. Some of the Old Testament books even appear to have been revised by different authors throughout the centuries.

Or are you falling into the theological fallacy of confusing inspiration with dictation?

Remember the kid who always whined "my mom said I couldn't get wet" whenever the squirt guns came out? The one who pointed at the sign that read 'don't walk on the grass' when you did and then told on you? "Mrs Smith? Joey was throwing erasers and I told him not to." when the teacher came back into class?

Yeah, you know the kid I'm talking about. He's right here... Pantyshield of faith. Only now, instead of trying to gain authority from the rules of the classroom or the police or mom... he's using the Bible. God doesn't actually do anything so he'll act in his stead. "Stop that, God said I couldn't get wet!" "You homos over there, knock it off, God said so."

You don't see it? I sure do. This is the kid nobody liked all grown up and throwing God in our faces. He's telling!!!

Well...considering that there are many authors of the Bible and they are all deceased that seems like a hard thing to go about doing...

Now I ask the question, how does anyone have a life changing encounter with Jesus Christ and say this?

Because not everyone who acknowledges Jesus as their savior allows this choice to rob them of their common sense.

And yet another shameless comment that spits in the very face of the One you say you acknowledge as savior out one side of your neck all the while elevating common sense as god above Him out the other side of your neck.:(

That's a little presumptuous of you, to assume that anyone who has a "real" or "true" relationship with God or Jesus has to think the way you do and if they don't agree with you then they're mistaken in their beliefs and must be corrected.

The God that I see in the New Testament, is a God of love and peace, the God that I am developing my own personal relationship with in my day to day life. A God capable of forgiving everything, if I only ask with a true and faithful heart, like a caring father willing to help me along in my life. Willing to help us all, willing to forgive us all of everything. Not this monster being portrayed here, loathing that which he created and ready to annihilate us all at a moment's notice.

And if that's the God that I meet at the end of my days, then I will gladly throw myself into that Lake of Fire, rather than spend all eternity with something that delights in the pain of others.

Zaac, your posts indicate that you still are confusing a disagreement over your beliefs about God with a disagreement with God. Peach81 was doing the former, not the latter.

There was nothing presumptuous about the statement. You can only serve one master. God can't be your master and common sense too.

The God that I see in the New Testament, is a God of love and peace, the God that I am developing my own personal relationship with in my day to day life. You've been listening to too many liberals. Nobody has said anything about God being a monster. God is love, but His love CANNOT be separated from His wrath.

And if that's the God that I meet at the end of my days, then I will gladly throw myself into that Lake of Fire, rather than spend all eternity with something that delights in the pain of others.

So you know enough about God to trust that there will be a Lake of Fire, but you don't know enough to know why there must be His wrath in order to allow for a Lake of Fire?

I'm confusing no such thing. It is apparent why the church is in the shambles that it is. It is filled with spiritually anemic people who are under the misguided notion that their common sense and reality somehow supersedes the Word of God.

And that is again SHAMELESS!

If somebody has had an encounter with Jesus Christ and is growing in that relationship, the Holy Spirit isn't going to question that GOD authored His Word.

Christians are called to be the salt of the earth, but in observation, more are being salted by the earth than are salting the earth.

Was that supposed to make sense? Or have you given up being coherent?

Oh, and I never said Christ was my savior. He's not, as I do not require saving.

But if we are created by God, and given common sense I feel it is a crime not to use it.

You've been listening to too many liberals. Nobody has said anything about God being a monster. God is love, but His love CANNOT be separated from His wrath.
And that is where we disagree. When I read some of SoF's copied and pasted sermons I am saddened. This talk brings the good news to no one and drives more people away than it does bring them in.

I've belonged to these forums a long time, and a long while back I was pagan. I also participated in debates such as these, and harsh words never changed my mind and swayed me one whit. Then, I attended a Friend's weekend retreat. That retreat and the realization of what God wanted for me in my life did far more for my faith than a thousand wrath-ey posts ever could, or ever will do. And I'm sorry but yes I do listen to liberals... I am one, in fact.

So you know enough about God to trust that there will be a Lake of Fire, but you don't know enough to know why there must be His wrath in order to allow for a Lake of Fire?
I believe I said "if" but if I didn't then I apologize for the confusion. I was speaking hypothetically, I honestly don't know what will happen to us at the end of the world. I'll find out when it happens, I guess. I personally think that God is forgiving and loving enough to forgive us anything if we only ask, even after death, and that there really isn't a need for a Lake of Fire. BUT... that's just me personally, my own husband doesn't even agree, lol. I'm too nice, he tells me, but ah well.:)

It made perfectly good sense. Just not to some. Oh well.:)

Eve, it's not an issue of using common sense. It's an issue of going to Christ FIRST. Common sense will have you doing all sorts of things that Christ says to not do.

And that is where we disagree. When I read some of SoF's copied and pasted sermons I am saddened. This talk brings the good news to no one and drives more people away than it does bring them in.

Sinners in the Hand of an Angry God is the one I have most recently seen posted. I would ask that you do a little research on the delivery of that sermon and what happened as the result of God's Word faithfully being delivered.

I've belonged to these forums a long time, and a long while back I was pagan. I also participated in debates such as these, and harsh words never changed my mind and swayed me one whit. Eve you were set free by the Word of God. There would have had to be repentance on your part for this to occur. Absent an understanding of sin and the result and punishment of unrepentant sin, there could have been no recognition for why you needed a Savior.

I believe I said "if" but if I didn't then I apologize for the confusion. I was speaking hypothetically, I honestly don't know what will happen to us at the end of the world. Eve let me say this and I don't know how to be any clearer about it. If you are going to grow in your relationship with Jesus Christ, you HAVE to Trust that His Word is Truth. Ohhh the depths that He will take you to and raise you above if you just trust and obey.

God is not a man that He should lie. If He has told you so in His Word, you can TRUST that it is the Truth.

The people who are confused re the ones who don't accept His Truth. They are the ones who waffle back and forth abouth right and wrong because they have no standard of absolute truth.

You must Trust Jesus Christ, and the Written Word of God that embodies what He, The Living Word is.

^_^ You crack me up, Zaac.

Let's build on that whole "salt of the earth" metaphor: In moderation, salt can preserve food and add flavor. Too much salt, however, can be detrimental to one's health, contributing to hypertension and heart disease. And sailors who try to drink salt water instead of fresh water end up dead. In short, Zaac, I think you've gone from being salt in moderation to being too salty.

Let's build on that whole "salt of the earth" metaphor:

Let's not. God says what He intends to say. Your additions to what He says about Christians being the salt of the earth aren't needed.
