Some of you will remember that I am a 10-year Anglican church-goer, but new in the pursuit of a relationship with God. A few of my much older and wiser friends have suggested that I read Brother Lawrence's "The Practice of the Presence of God".

I'm struggling to read through the book itself. My brain was tired to begin with, so... . *Shrug* I have, however, found audio versions and commentaries elsewhere online. I think the key points of the book are:
Have I missed anything? What are your thoughts on Brother Lawrence's ideas? Have they helped you? I struggle, unlike my retired Anglican friends, to know how and when I'd be able to create a lifestyle of constant prayer. I am a mom, manager, volunteer, etc. Perhaps, though, I can be more deliberate about setting aside time for a relationship with God.

I'm struggling to read through the book itself. My brain was tired to begin with, so... . *Shrug* I have, however, found audio versions and commentaries elsewhere online. I think the key points of the book are:
- Be in a constant conversation with God
- Become perfect worshipers of God
- Go always in joy
- Even suffering can be a form of worship if we remember that all things come to us from God, pain included
- Feed our souls on a high notion of God so that devotion brings joy
- Do common business wholly for the love of God
- Tasks matter less than the motivations behind them
Have I missed anything? What are your thoughts on Brother Lawrence's ideas? Have they helped you? I struggle, unlike my retired Anglican friends, to know how and when I'd be able to create a lifestyle of constant prayer. I am a mom, manager, volunteer, etc. Perhaps, though, I can be more deliberate about setting aside time for a relationship with God.
This is what I believe that I can think about doing in my life now:
- Oppose the worldly mindset that seeks to please oneself and not God
- In serving people, do what God wants for them
- Bear with the failings of the weak
- Renew your mind, so that you may test and approve what is the will of God
- Enjoy quiet, even briefly, as a time to converse and pray. Grab time whenever you can.
- Make a quiet place where you can instantly connect. (Car, bedroom, etc.)
- Set an alarm to remind you to refocus and pray regularly.
- Pray for each colleague, client, customer, student, patient, etc.
- Begin and end each day conscious of God
- Let thankfulness to God be the habit of your life
