  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Deut 10:1-2
At that time the Lord told me: Carve two stone tablets, just like the first ones, and hike up the mountain to me. Construct a wooden chest as well. 2 I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets—the ones you smashed—then you will place them in the chest.

I think that maybe the second set were written regular stone.

When I think of foundation, I think about the concrete slab upon which my house was built upon... So when I read the verse below, this slab image comes to mind.

Isaiah 54:11; “O afflicted, storm-tossed one, who has not been consoled: Behold, I will set down gems as your [flooring] stones and lay your foundation with sapphires.”

Luchot ha-Berit, which literally means,” Cubes of the Covenant” and has been used to call the stones which Moses brought down from Mount Sinai. It is also said that they were actually taken from the throne of God. Midrash Lekakh Tov describes the sapphire on which the Ten Commandments were etched as being literally cut from YHWH’s very own throne.

Exodus 32:16; “The cubes were Elohim’s handiwork, and the script was the script of Elohim engraved within the cubes.” According to rabbinic tradition they were perfect cubes, with sharp corners and words bored fully through the stone, rather than carved on the surface. “…they were inscribed on one side and the other” (Exodus 32:15b) It is said that the words did not appeared on the other side in reverse, but could be read normally. Furthermore, the inner parts of letters surrounded by complete joins stayed in exact position without any visible support.

The shattered pieces of the original cubes were carefully gathered up and placed in the Ark along with the intact second set. These pieces are called, Shivrei Luchot, which means, “the remnants of the tablets (or cubes).”

Maybe this is where the Tefillin comes in. Tefillin are small boxes that house small pieces of Torah. They are attached to strips of leather, which are worn on the head and around the arm during prayer to fulfill the mandate to “…bind them as a sign upon your hand, and they shall be for a reminder between your eyes.” (Deuteronomy 6:8)

As far as the cubes. I have a little cube of glass given to me by a dear Israeli friend which has carved into it two men holding a pole with a single cluster of grapes on it. I'm sure you know what that means. But the way it is done is interesting. You can only see this scene from without, not within. It is like a prism when the light hits it as well. It makes me wonder if they weren't something like that.

The cube is an interesting geometrical form it has three dimensions, six sides. Three multipled by Six = Eighteen. This is the traditional number in Judaism for life. When viewed on while on one of the corners, triangles appear. If you take it apart, but still keeping it together, you will have four squares bisected by three, forming a cross, or 'T'. This is only one of eleven 'nets' meaning a way that a cube (think of it formed by paper) can be cut where all six sides remain touching, but form a different shape.

It gets much more complicated the more you study on the cube, but what I found interesting is that it says Tablets, plural.

The First Set is described in Exodus,, Thus:

The Second set is described in Deuteronomy as :

It is interesting to note that it says they were written on both their sides. The Hebrew word for 'both' can also mean, not just two, but twelve. ;)

A cube has six sides, but two cubes would have twelve.

But it also says Moses carried these two in his hand, not hands. (Which would allow him a hand free for a walking stick).

Now think about this. The dual of a cube is an octahedron. This is a cube (with six sides) within a cube with six sides.

Could this be translated to say:

This would fit with the scene in Revelation where there are twelve thrones, pillars, foundations stones, tribes etc. Also there were the twelve stone on the ephod, twelve cakes put upon the table of shewbread.

Could the 'tablets' look something like this?

You presented some very good arguments. I guess humpty dumpty fall was unintentional when he sat on the wall, all the kings horses and all the kings men couldn't gather up humpty dumpty again. Have you ever tried to put back together a broken egg ? Those broken pieces may have been like a shattered vase or a fancy broken claypot smashed into many pieces. It appears Moses doesn't show any interest in repairing the work of G-d, although he made the people drink the water mixed wirh the golden calf Aaron made from the gold they received from the Egyptians.

You know diamonds are very expensive these days, even a small broken piece can be very valuable.

Construct a wooden chest as well.

If she is a wall{virgin},

we will build towers of silver on her.

If she is a door{harlot},

we will enclose her with panels of cedar.

The Bride
10"I was a wall, and my breasts were like towers; Then I became in his eyes as one who finds peace. 11"Solomon had a vineyard at Baal-hamon; He entrusted the vineyard to caretakers. Each one was to bring a thousand shekels of silver for its fruit. 12"My very own vineyard is at my disposal; The thousand shekels are for you, Solomon, And two hundred are for those who take care of its fruit."
