A young British Muslim teacher escorted off a New York-bound flight by US officials in front of the school party he was helping lead has spoken of his concerns that he was targeted simply because of his religion.

Maths teacher Juhel Miah, 25, who was born in Birmingham and brought up in Swansea, said his treatment left him feeling humiliated. Both he and his school are demanding an explanation from the US authorities.

Muslims have been the forged bogeyman for more than 20 years. And, people love to come together around common causes - in this case, manufactured fear and apprehension by anything related to Islam.

That means looks, personality, speech pattern, and lifestyle are judged for criminality and safety, rather than understanding and objectivity in practice.

There used to be other groups that got the unfair majority of the blame for crimes and delinquencies, but since 2001, those groups have been "tabled" for Muslims - despite the reality.

This is how easy and fickle irrational fear, prejudice and discrimination can be manipulated. By 2001, the collective manufactured fear and disdain for other previously labeled groups had been transferred to the red herring of Islamic Terrorism.

Some people just need an object of opposition to make them feel complete. It is very hard to take individuals as they are, rather than group them in a deceptive stereotypic category manufactured by string pullers to produced the maximize amount of disdain, hate and ignorance.

Terrorism is an abstraction. Can you physically pick up terrorism? Does it have a concrete form?

When your enemy is an abstraction, you can define the boundaries thereof - because abstractions are categorically non-concrete.

That is dangerous, because that means there is no basis.
