Pursuant to another discussion concerning problems, of the most pressing problems in your life, how many can be solved by science?

How many by changes in behavior by yourself or by others?

Pursuant to another discussion concerning problems, of the 10 most pressing problems in your life, how many can be solved by science?

How many by changes in behavior by yourself or by others?
1. The function of science is not to solve problems. Therefore your question is largely irrelevant.
2. My pressing problems are largely irrelevant to the world at large.
3. As part of the world at large I am more concerned about the world's problems than my own.
4. Several of the pressing problems of the world can be solved through knowledge provided by science.
5. All problems, personal, global and everything in between are solved by a change in behaviour.
6. In light of the above your transparent attempt to manipulate a response has failed.
7. And that takes care of one of the ten most pressing problems in my life.

The only truly serious problem is death, and AFAIK, there have been no major advances in dealing with that.

Think of the problems we would have if there were no death.

The only way to deal with a non-question.

I edited that response to, "You are a very unique individual" (putting global problems ahead of your own).

I edited that response to, "You are a very unique individual" (putting global problems ahead of your own).
1. My personal problems have very limited impact upon my children and grandchildren. In contrast global problems have a massive impact upon them.
2. My personal problems have no practical impact upon humanity. I'm a member of humanity, whom I have a general affection for, and global problems have an immense impact upon them.
3. My personal problems have almost no impact upon the biosphere, apart from my cat. As someone who accepts evolution and the concept of common ancestors, I feel a strong affinity for other life forms and they are being decimated by global problems.
4. Anyone who fails to put global problems ahead of their own is a selfish, nincompoop.

All of them.

How many by changes in behavior by yourself or by others?

0 of them.

For reference, I only have 1 pressing problem, cancer.

I have cancer, from which I would die soon without treatment which was developed during my lifetime and which promises a complete cure.

Are you saying that the billions of individuals suffering from these global problems should ignore the problems they are suffering from and concentrate on the suffering of all the others? This would mean that those suffering from hunger should forget their own hunger and agonize over the hunger of others. ????? o_O

About... maybe 3, I'd say. Two if I'm probably being honest with myself.

I know I would sleep better if I didn't have that beer late in the evening (salty foods don't help either). I also work way too hard and am on my feet too long. Gotta change that.

I'm the same with sleep. It's a mix of the lights around my house are too bright and I also go to bed too late to feel rested (which doesn't help when work has me having to get up at 6 in the morning). I've bought a sleep mask though and that does help somewhat.

Sorry to hear about your health problems fellas, I wish you all the best.

On a lighter note the sooner scientists can develop some sort of personality transplant the sooner half my problems will be solved.

The other half of my problems could hopefully be solved by myself.... persuading my wife to agree that personally transplant.

Pursuant to another discussion concerning problems, of the most pressing problems in your life, how many can be solved by science?

How many by changes in behavior by yourself or by others?

How do you know what changes in behavior would yield wich results?
How do you obtain the knowledge required to realise that certain types of behavior are not the way to go?
