  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Does a breviary have the LOTH, and the two little offices in it?

Also, is it possible to get a breviary with the LOTH, little offices, Angelus, and the Mass liturgy in it?

"Breviary" and "LotH" (Liturgy of the Hours) generally refer to two separate things (sort of). The Breviarium Romanum is the pre-Vatican II Office; the Liturgia Horarum is post-Vatican II. The LotH is available at most Catholic bookstores, and at Amazon. A pre-1961 breviary is a bit hard to find, although they pop up on eBay from time to time, but can be expensive. The last revision before Vatican II was in 1961, and this is the version the clergy who are granted permission to pray the older Office must pray. These are available from several Catholic booksellers online.

The Mass is not found in the Breviary, except for the Collects, since they are used in both the Mass and the Breviary. The Mass is found in the Missal. I'd suggest the St. Andrews Daily Missal for the older rite, and the Daily Roman Missal for the new.

I'm not sure which two little offices you mean, but if you mean the Office of the Dead and the Little Office of the Blessed Virgin Mary, my Breviary includes both. My LotH has the Office of the Dead, but I don't see the Little Office of the BVM in it. Neither includes the Angelus, since it's not used in the Office, but it's widely available online.

Technically, the term breviary is not used any more. The Breviarum Romanum is the Roman Breviary (the Divine Office) (the Hours) in Latin. (Pre-Vatican II).

THe Liturgy of the Hours is the Divine Office in English. The complete set covering the entire liturgical year comes in 4 volumes. I know of no set that contains the Order of the Mass.
