Some months ago, while discussing the cognitive dissonance infecting the pro-choice ranks and the “Lies and Lila Rose” issue, I got the sense that we were on the verge of a watershed event in the pro-life battle, that the supporters of the Great Western Atrocity were on the edge of a cascade failure. “As Saletan and other pro-choice advocates continue to struggle with their cognitive dissonance, ugly truths about abortion that NARAL and their intellectual puppets at the Alan Guttmacher Institute have tried so desperately to squelch continue to surface. I predict … that this will eventually trigger a series of revelations about Planned Barrenhood that the MSM won’t be able to ignore.”

Despite the questionable ethics of entrapment journalism, the fact remains that LiveAction’s videos shattered Planned Barrenhood’s façade of concern for women. Then came the revelation of Kermit Gosnell’s “little shop of horrors” and the fact that the Pennsylvania Department of Health “literally licensed Gosnell’s criminally dangerous behavior”. Then Virginia passed a health bill requiring abortion clinics to meet the same safety standards of hospitals, forcing opponents to defend access at the cost of appearing hypocritical about women’s health.

Now, Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-FL), chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Investigations, has written a letter to Planned Barrenhood president Cecile Richards, asking her “to comply with current federal regulations and legal obligations by providing Congress with a wide range of documents within two weeks of the date of the letter,” according to LifeNews.

The other shoe has finally dropped.

I predict - no, I bet - I bet that this guy is as wrong as he is an attention ...umm...aficionado. $100. I got $100 says the MSM will be plenty easy to ignore this. It just isn't the news people pay to hear.

What's the MSM?

About the only moral dissonance I see in the Tea Party-dominated House of Representatives is their eagerness to de-fund Planned Parenthood (who uses 96% of its funds on non-abortion related services) so that babies are born whom they are unwilling to adequately medically treat, feed, or educate.

If they had moral integrity, they would stop trying to dismantle the Social Safety Net, and, if an when that happens, I will believe in their moral integrity.

Have you ever watched the live action video expose, where this group of young kids led my Lila Rose filmed various undercover scenarios involving Planned parenthood ?

One was where they called several planned parenthood centers, stating they wanted to donate money to eradicate Black babies. Planned parenthood workers assured them that they could. They even giggled in one.

How about the one in which one posed as a Pimp and wanted to procure an abortions for minor alleged prostitutes. Planned parenthood coached them on how to word things.

How about former director of a local planned parenthood Abby Johnson, she will tell you of the horrors and lies they tell.

Query on you-tube Abbey Johnson and Planned parenthood.

Abby Johnson talks on the moment when she participated in a rare Ultrasound abortion procedure. She saw the full profile of the baby and when they inserted the probe to kill the infant, she witnessed the baby frightened and attempting to move away. She had an epiphany, because she was stricken as to what she was participating in. She is now Pro-life/.

Go watch her story.

Where are you getting that 96% number?

I know of a report from planned parenthood (here) which states that 3% of its services are abortions. (I should note that even that is a bit sketchy, since they count an individual sale of each contraception kit as a service, while the multi-day procedure of an abortion is counted only as one service.) The only way, then, that 96% of their funding would go to services other than abortions is if an abortion cost the same as a pack of condoms. Otherwise that statistic is wildly inconsistent with Planned Parenthood's own numbers.

(This gets much less plausible when you consider this document from Planned Parenthood which states that 12% of their clients receive abortions).

But a funny thing about the number 96%: If you add up all of the services listed for pregnant women (prenatal care, adoption referrals, abortions) you find a total of 335,846 "services." Of these, 324,008 are abortions. That would make over 96% of Planned Parenthood's services specifically for pregnant women abortions.

Now in 2007, according to the CDC, about 827,000 abortions were performed. I can't find planned parenthood abortion records for 2007 or a CDC estimate of abortions performed in 2010, but we can estimate that Planned Parenthood performed somewhere around 39% of the abortions in the US that year. (Admittedly this is a very sketchy estimate, but I think we can safely say that Planned Parenthood almost certainly performed at least 25% of the abortions in the US in 2010).

If you look at the actual numbers, its clear that abortion is a big part of Planned Parenthood's mission.

And if you further examine the numbers (check out any of the documents on the planned parenthood site that I linked to) it's clear that abortion and contraception make up the vast majority of what they do.

They do do things like pap smears and adoption referrals and other types of things yes, but it's a very minor part of what they do.
