Brain Teaser - Which Switch?

In one room there are 3 light bulbs wired to 3 light switches located in another room.  You cannot see which of the light bulbs light up when you work the switches.

By going only once from the room with the switches to the room with the light bulbs, how can you determine which switch works which light bulb?

If the light switches have dimmers on them or are dimmer-switches, turn all three of the switches to different levels. One switch leave off, one switch turn to 50% light, and the third switch all the way on (100% light).

Don't read this if you're not ready to see the answer yet!!!

Turn the first switch on for a while and turn it off, then turn the second switch on and go to the other room.  The warm but dark bulb is the first switch, the lit bulb is the second switch, and the dark and cold bulb is the third switch.
