  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Essentially, the more information you know, the more synapses (the connection between neurons) are in the brain. Learning a large amount of information/having a high level of education can help prevent Alzheimer's. So does having a good diet, physical activity, not being obese, not abusing alcohol etc

How can we help keep the brain active and healthy?

Taking herbs or drugs that help boost neuroplasticity can be useful.

After getting COVID I had a return of some depression (and new headaches I never had before) and took dextromethorphan (DM, cough medicine). There is also a perscription-only perparation (Auvelity) that's being used now, that contains another drug (bupropion) to boost the DM's duration (otherwise, DM only lasts about eight hours). DM boosts neuroplasticity, similar to what microdosing of LSD does. Unlike traditional antidepressants, it works relatively fast.

One of the safest things is probably just to eat more mushrooms, as many mushrooms contain peptides that help boost neuroplasticity and the growth of neurons, and help protect the brain against stress. Lions mane mushroom powder is one of the best, as the cell walls are crushed, and I use it in soups or sauces alot (it tastes good, it has a meaty flavor). Even white button mushrooms help protect the brain:

Read and learn more science and math.
Thanks for the suggestion! I haven't taken a science course since 2014 (my senior year of high school) or a math course since 2015 (my freshman year of college). I was terrible at both subjects.

It's multi factorial. Keep it active, eat well, exercise have social contact. Don't eat aluminium, I guess?
