  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Who was subsequently charged and convicted of said war crimes?

As much as I want to, I am unable to appease you with that answer.

In some cases when war crimes occur and are reported, statements are made that what occured are not war crimes. One possible example (that can be researched) is U.S. Army Ranger John Needham's report about war crimes he witnessed.

ZCommunications | Bradley Manning: Hero, or Traitor? by Marjorie Cohn | ZNet Article

The price of that war includes two men killed by the Army’s Lethal Warriors in Al Doura, Iraq, with no evidence that they were insurgents or posed a threat. One man’s brains were removed from his head and another man’s face was skinned after he was killed by Lethal Warriors.U.S. Army Ranger John Needham, who was awarded two purple hearts and three medals for heroism, wrote to military authorities in 2007 reporting war crimes that he witnessed being committed by his own command and fellow Lethal Warriors in Al Doura. His charges were supported by atrocity photos which have been released by Pulse TV and Maverick Media in the new video by Cindy Piester, “On the Dark Side in Al Doura – A Soldier in the Shadows.” [http://vimeo.com/33755968].CBS reported obtaining an Army document from the Criminal Investigation Command suggestive of an investigation into these war crimes allegations. The Army's conclusion was that the "offense of War Crimes did not occur."

Ms. Cohn claims war criminals are respected, using Manning as an example. Manning did not commit war crimes. Honor and respect are directed at Manning by supporters for exposing war crimes. I do not honor or respect war criminals.

If Manning had committed war crimes instead of exposing them, he would be a free man today. If he had murdered civilians and skinned them alive, he would not be facing the death penalty.

ZCommunications | Granai massacre: interview with Guy Smallman by Ian Sinclair | ZNet Article

"How many more massacres have gone completely uninvestigated because the slaughter has been off-limits to the press?"

Journalist Guy Smallman's question can persuade others to bring investigators to a battlefield to evaluate the flow of information.

That's what I thought. Bradley Manning exposed some things that you don't like, so the best thing to do is categorize them as war crimes.

The truly scary thing is that we have had sad, pathetic individuals like Manning and Snowden guarding highly classified information.

Why are they sad and pathetic?

No. War crimes are to be reported. Manning exposed war crimes. Using U.S. Army Ranger John Needham and Manning as examples, Cohn asserts war criminals and war crimes are respected; those who expose war criminals and war crimes are dehumanized.

Did you watch the graphic video On the Dark Side in Al Doura A Soldier in the Shadows ? Needham's father talks about the war crimes Needham reported. Needham was advised to report these war crimes. The war crimes Needham reported and the war crimes Manning exposed are referred to as war crimes.

Jane Fonda is a worse traitor than Manning or Snowden, yet she walks free and some will even pay to see her movies. Many died because of her. Yet she has a country and walks free.
How do you rank degrees of traitorousness?

I hear some people are mad that she is playing Nancy Reagan in The Butler.

I'm no Fonda fan, but a bit of world-class exaggeration doesn't make your point look anything but silly.

Comparing anti-war activism with espionage is dumb.
LOL ... Silly? Dumb?

I simply provided a direct response to a direct question.

Your response did not begin to answer the question. Your response was expected because the fact is you cannot name one person who died as a direct action from Jane Fonda, nor can you even give a tally to how many died as a direct action from Jane Fonda.

You may as well have posted a meaningless graphic, it might have provided a better reply.

Well, if you want a thoughtful discussion of the matter, a good starting point is provided at wiki.answers: What did Jane Fonda actually do while in Hanoi during her visit
She was paraded around visiting military installations, was photographed sitting on anti-aircraft weapons, visited American POWs and after secretly receiving a list of POWs Social Security numbers, handed this list to the North Vietnamese. This caused the torture of these brave soldiers. She denounced the American military and called the American soldiers baby killers and murders.

Many veterans and conservative Americans believed that she gave aid and comfort to the enemy of the United States and should have been put on trial as a traitor. She has in later years apologized for her actions, but some say they will never forgive her for what they see as clearly traitorous actions that prolonged the war and caused more deaths of both American and Vietnamese
