  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Bra Shopping...the beginning of the end...

Wow. That is big.

I feel like I should congratulate you. Your daughter has survived to pre-puberty.

What's the equivalent milestone with a little boy, lol?

Buying him a jock strap or something? LOL, I guess that's more of a daddy thing, though, huh?

Thanks Graciecakes.

I can't believe she's that big already!:swoon: Seems like just the other day you were telling about how she needed deoderant^_^

Emily's growing too fast, but she's no where near wearing a bra..I just can't believe that we're potty training already and that she's been wearing big girl panties.

Oh, I know...the deodorant felt like a big step. LOL, the bra thing feels bigger. I guess next I'll be buying her pads and explaining the function of tampons. *sigh* I want her to be my little girl forever. But she's turning into such a beautiful little lady, I don't want to hold her back either.

This is hard. *pout*

It was very odd watching my oldest girls get older (now 26 & 18.5). The whole process was totally different for each of them though~ so just keep in mind your DD's (all of you, not just the OP) personality. One of my girls was very very private, so it was harder for her to ask me so I had to initiate conversations & shopping trips, while the other one had lots of questions and came to me asking for deodorant, bra, pads, etc.

I don't know. My ds is 6 and I don't know what the big "coming of age" thing is that you have to buy. I don't think there is one. Dh and I have already discussed that he is going to be explaining puberty to ds and I have to explain it to dd. Although so far the main things that my ds knows about "birds and bees" has come from me answering his questions lol. I am the one that spends most time with him and even dh commented it on the other day, but as far as the stuff that guys have to deal with, well if he asks me I will just refer him to his dad.

My daughter is ten years old and doesn't need a bra yet. She has friends that wear them, some because they need to, others because they wish they needed to. My daughter falls into the latter category, wanting to grow up so fast :sigh:

Recently I bought her this book which we read together. It was a really good starting point for conversation... great for preteeen girls.

Contrats Heather Jay, I hope things continue to go swimmingly as you guys progress along! :) I was horrified when I had to go bra shopping the first time... and I was one of the first in my class wearing them, so the boys thought it was awful fun to come around behind us in the lunch line and snap them. :sorry: I really hope she has better luck than I did. I ended up decking someone one time...

That sounds just like me and my sister! ^_^
