I don't know what bugs me more, the fact that he did it in the first place, or that he hung up on me. I can't stand when people hang up on me, it's like they are trying to avoid working things out, or trying to control who gets to have the "last word."

To those who don't equate a "joke profile" with lying, what do you call it then, when someone doesn't tell the truth? Something is either true or untrue, right?

I have a myspace page, and felt no need to lie about anything.

The joke profiles tend to be inherently ridiculous, where people are obviously trying to make things funny. It depends on the point of view of the person who put up the profile as to how it comes across. So although it's untrue people can tell it's a joke.
The profiles that lie (whether meaning to or not) are the ones that are believeable, and most wont know that these people are lying on their profiles. Those are the ones that I have a problem with, they can hurt peoples' feelings.
My idea of a joke profile is like the one my friend put up, you can't take someone who says that they're a hat seriously.

A joke is not a lie, since you are expecting ppl to know that it is not the truth. The purpose of lying is to mislead them.

I think what bugs you is the total lack of repsect he shows for you both in the "joke" and hanging up.
