The Bee Gees don't count because they wrote their own songs, played instruments, and weren't a manufactured band. The Monkees were manufactured though, so could be regarded as the first boy band.

I disagree with your definition of a "boy band". It is a group of attractive young men who are marketed to attract young girls...with a lot of love songs.
Billboard has the Osmond Brothers listed as a boy band before the Monkees.
I sort of believe that groups like the Temptations were the roots of modern boy bands. The choreography didn't matter as much until tv became common place and then MTV in the 80's gave bands a reason to become more of a visual experience. I will grant that at least at the time of this filming that they weren't "boys" anymore.
Finally, a thread dedicated to those who think boy bands still be cool......feel free to post any cringey boy band music that give ya the feels!!! (lol why do I feel like I'll be the only one posting in this thread??!!! Don't let me down Westlife, Nsyc, A1 fans out there!!!)
