Wars
and rumors of
wars
all around
when will this war
within my heart
cease

to pound
with want
from earthquakes
which move my feet
onto the next desire until
it leaves
me


desolate


in the silence
of death
leaving it behind
like the man who stored
up goods in his barn for retirement
but the night before his leisure
the angel of death took his soul

but what else can I do?

I have a famine
within my stone cold heart
that you placed within me
when you formed me from ash

should I call down
fire to make it warm
with love for truth
or

go down in my want
to a grave of dust
from whence I came

I have a sense of longing
that's never quite filled
and I believe somehow
that emptiness is reserved
for you but

I care so much more about the present
than a potential in the future

So,
if your there
send me to hell
a place of fire
to warm my heart
where the sign is movement
and make me alive
like Lazarus

and war against the emptiness
of this tomb

I don't believe in miracles
but if you can

bring this dead man

alive
