Born Again in the OT?

since the HS is nec for regeneration, which is essential for a person's salvation & the ontological (or economic, whichever deals with the attributes) nature of the HS, specifically immutability, all believers had to have the HS in them, not jes the prophets, not just NT & beyond saints. Unless you are proposing that OT people weren't dead in their sins, that is....

You are assuming that to be born again the Holy Spirit is required to stay and live "in" someone forever because that is what He has done for you and for the elect for 2000 years. I don't think the Scriptures teach this was the case before Pentecost, I think the Scriptures teach that the Holy Spirit only "abided with" the elect before Pentecost after regenerating them. Pentecost and Christs' preaching of Pentecost was a defining moment for the elect. The Holy Spirit would no longer just "abide with" them but now He would "live in" them!

I think the Scriptures teach that the Apostles and many disciples were born again by the Holy Spirit before Pentecost and that the Holy Spirit only abided with them but did not actually live in them until Pentecost. So it was with the OT saints. This is why Pentecost is so important.

The OT Prophets obviously had a special calling and were anointed with the Spirit in a special and different way than the general elect in the OT and obviously this was so that they could fulfill their special office and calling. Note however how the Holy Spirit could and did leave some of them on many different occasions as recorded in Scripture. There is, of course, no documentation of this type of behavior by the Holy Spirit with the elect after Pentecost.
