Hi all, I'm new to Methodism

Are there any books I should read, either about John Wesley or about Methodism in general (or its history) that anyone would recommend?

Living Our Beliefs: The United Methodist Way - Kenneth Carder
United Methodist Beliefs: A Brief Introduction - Bishop William H. Willimon
United Methodist Questions and Answers: Exploring Christian Faith - F. Belton Joyner Jr.
Why I am a United Methodist - Bishop William H. Willimon

I'm not methodist but I recalled seeing this online: POWER THROUGH PRAYER - by Pastor E.M. Bounds

It's by Methodist Minister E.M. Bounds. If I am honest I'm not really sure why it's on a mostly independent Baptist website. I assume a lot of it probably applies to different denominations though.

Bounds died in 1913. I'm not sure why he mostly shows up on Baptist websites. But I was going for newer resources.

Ah, quite a while back then. I sometimes use the website because it has lots of varied resources and I just happened to remember that free book because it was Methodist.

You might also consider the sermons of John Wesley. You can find them online for free.

I would recommend Wesley's Explanatory Notes. It is a commentary on the books of the Bible by John Wesley. They can be bought as individual collections, or as a whole. They can be found online.

"Revival: Faith as Wesley Lived It" by Adam Hamilton is good for some of the basics. Hamilton goes around England pointing out the various places in Wesley's life, with some history and biography, and how Wesley's faith can speak to us today. You can see the table of contents and download the first chapter at his site here:

Revival

You can often find video documentaries on services such as Amazon Prime, Netflix, and YouTube that can be helpful too. The UMC website also has a lot of good things on it as well, so it wouldn't hurt to poke around there.
