FTR. I do not endorse books nor do I pan them; I simply tell what is in them and leave it to the readers to decide for themselves. Some books I like, some I dislike, and some (most) I am pretty neutral on. I write reviews for our local newspaper’s religion page, a job I have had for almost 15 years now, and my audience is general. IMO, it is not my job as a book reviewer to tell people what they should or shouldn’t read. They can decide that for themselves as long as they have an idea what is in the book.

@ Jim: I don't get to read much, mainly because it can get rather expensive if you need a new book every 2 days. Your review and the title jumped out at me on this one though. I'm glad I read it and wish my Christian friends would as well. I can understand why you said it may be a little too calvinst for some, but it is certainly not calvinist. I would say it is more baptist than anything else.

As much as I enjoy reading Rob Bell I actually enjoyed reading this even more. It is dogmatic on grace and of course I like that and agree completely with almost everything he said.

Thanks for posting the review and cluing me in to a gem of a little book.

Good stuff!
