  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hey Fellow Writers,

My mom passed away in December of 2004. In the past year I have been through a long grieving process, one that isn't completely finished. Throughout this process I have kept a journal that contains a lot of thoughts and feelings. The journal shows the progression and process of grieving.

I am considering submiting this to my publisher as a manuscript. My desire is to help others through the grieving process.

This will be my second book (to be published).

What are your thoughts?

Without reading it it is hard to say much but if you re-read it and find it helps you finish your grieving process then it might have worth to someone else also. Otherwise it may be just another book that will collect dust along with the thousands that are published monthly.

Find someone who has just had the same experience and let them read it and ask them if it has any worth to them. If so, it may be well worth your effort to get it published.

Peace,
koshada

It depends on the focus and the polish. The general idea sounds ok, but so do lots of things until you get down to reality. Not trying to be discouraging by saying that, just admitting that it is hard to determine without actually knowing what is in the journal or how you intend to translate it to a book.

It would probably be better to make it into the story where the central character is yourself, or someone who symbolizes yourself. People comprehensively tend to relate better to character than to ideas, because characters have contexts -- we can see them, as it were. Perhaps even have a character who writes in a journal; I just think people are repellant to the idea of a journal; they want a story.
