  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

We have been bombarded with Blue's Clues for 3 weeks now by my 16 month old son. I'm starting to have dreams about "Blue." The first thing he wants when he wakes up is....Blue's Clues. He was watching Baby Einstein for a while until we got him these videos. One good thing is he is picking up some sign language from it.
Is he too young to be watching this show? Baby Einstein just doesn't cut it anymore.

I agree with princessperky, it's actually the main resaon I have'nt had cable in over ten years. Less TV = more activities:thumbsup:
Ditto for us. My kids loved blue in their pre school days, but it's the same episode all 5 days. I know kids like that kind of repetition, but it won't hurt to limit it to once a week. Since we don't have cable, they can only see it once a week anyway, though they lost interest in the program about age 5.

Our kids all loved Blue (the 2 year old still does). The sign language is great, it's just sort of added in there, and they pick it up so quickly! Our 2 year old is a music fanatic so his choices almost always seem to be the Baby Einstein dvds or Fantasia or Fantasia 2000. Can't complain too much from that! It's fun to dance and answer questions about the whales and talk about what's going on.

We also don't have cable, don't even want it. The blue's videos we have are with Steve, He doesn't seem to like the newer ones. We found this out whe I got him a dvd set of the new ones with Joe. We only have 3 videos. I bought him a DVD with 4 episodes of the classic blue's but he doesn't like them either.
How are the ones with the puppet? I'm the kind of person that I don't like it when they try to improve something, when actually sometimes it seems like they screw it up IMO.

We don't catch Blue alot anymore, but now that Andie's a little older (3 1/2), she actually prefers the newer ones when Blue is a puppet...simply because Blue is talking right to the tv, to the kids, and it's really like a playdate...there's ALOT of interaction between the kids watching it & the tv show....

My 4 year old son loves Blue's Clues. I let him watch it because of the problem solving skills associated with the programming and the interactive fun the show seems to produce. Plus the repetitious nature of the show reinforces the skills that the show tries to instill. I usually try to take the lesson of that days show - say colors - and then find an activity that we can do at home to support the concept of the day.

My son likes Blue too but he is obessed with Thomas. He asks to watch it all the time. We have movies of it. So he can watch anytime we let him. When I have enough of the show I will tell him no and I will do other things with him or let him go play in his room with his toys. He gets mad but he does get over it. But he is 3 too and is older than your child. I would get his mind on to other things, do activites and play with this toys.

Lilly loves Blue's Clues. She's only 19 months. But what she loves most is SpongeBob Squarepants. That's all she will ever watch too. You put in Dora and she watches the first episode and than just gets up to flip off the tv. It's really funny and cute too. With Blue and SpongeBOB, you flip the tv off and she goes to turn it on. hehe.

LOL...I love this thread! We watch Blue's on occasion. We have a nice mix up at our house. One day Blues, then Dorra, then a Baby Einstein, and some Barney. We don't have any Baby Einstein's with sign language in them, but our 10 year old is going deaf, so our little ones are picking up sign language from us...lol, they really have please and sorry down!

I know it's not much sign, but there is Baby Wordsworth from the Baby Einstein collection that has sign in it. I wish I knew sign because my 2 year old has picked up so much from blue and baby einstein ( I know the ones he knows, but only the alphabet as more).

I'm sorry :( How is he adjusting?
Baby Wordsworth is great with sign language.
I'm trying to get him to watch Veggy Tales but no go. He loves to listen to the veggy tale cd in the car.
We have Thomas the train video but so far he isn't into it now.
I'll give the Blue's Clues puppet a chance though to see if he will like it.
I love the part when Steve gets a letter :)

LOL.. Sometimes he will turn off the TV when I put in Baby Einstein :) But not all the time.
