World Of Warcraft's release is not too far off anymore, maybe only a matter of months. Is anyone else interested in Blizzard's first mmorpg attempt?

Here's some of the basics,

6 races so far: Human, Dwarf, Night-Elf, Undead, Orc, Tauren.

8 classes to-date: Warrior, Paladin, Rogue, Hunter, Druid, Mage, Shaman, Warlock.

Two factions: Alliance (Human, Dwarf, Night-Elf), Horde (Undead, Orc, Tauren).

Now the game looks like it will have excellent grafics too!

The downsides of course, pay by month is likely. Some of the classes/races are not very appealing for a Christian. Time consumption! < Need I say more.

Anyhow, what do you all think?

It sounds like it is coming along very well. Can't wait to play it. I will probably pick the orcs as my race. I do very well with them and I just like them. I just hope they let you give your character a detailed history. I have an orc hero I have made that is pretty cool.

WoW looks interesting, but so far it seems to mostly be a game focused solely on stats & building up your character. While this may be fun for a while, it can get tedious and sometimes a bit boring after so long, and definitely repetitive. I have played a few mmorpg's in the past and the ones that seem to focus only on raising stats, without giving some variety, seem to lose the excitement after so long.

I am still watching it though to see how it turns out, could be really interesting. :)

Just my $.02

Good points, I'm hopeing that the alliance wars will allow for some team-deathmatch style 'breathers' from stat building. Hopefully the alliance wars combat will allow for strategy, like sacking a town, cutting off resources. Though admitedly this is doubtfull.

Now that would make it more interesting, and provide more tactics into it. I would be more interested myself if it had those things. I am always a fighter in most games, so I don't mind so much the fighting, I think when you focus to much on stats, you lose a lot of gameplay. I will have to read up some more on it though, get a better idea, since I have only been following this a little here and there

I think the Total Annihilation fans are just bitter that they lost the poll and the argument against Starcraft ;)

I'm not a Warcraft player myself, but I think it's a cool series. One thing I'd like to see them do with the Starcraft series, not necessarily Starcraft 2, but down the line, is some sort of mmorpg. I'm not sure if any of you have played Master of Orion, but doing something similar to that except more extensive land battles. The storyline now involves attacking planets and stuff, but I'd like to see it possible to control that and stuff. It'd be cool.

WoW does look cool but I'm not all to excited about the "pay to play". With Blizzard's already existing free Battle.net I think WoW is gonna fail (I could be wrong, and I hope I am). WoW is the only MMORPG I have considered paying for until I found out about Middle-Earth Online comming out I think sometime next year.
