  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

You ever looked directly into the brightness of the sun for a few seconds? Well, if you were a silly child like me you will know that it will leave you with a temporary blind spot for a while, and could even damage your eyes.

In this we see the very thing which gives us sight, can also take away that sight be reason of its brightness. Much in the same way the Light of the Truth in Gods Word can also do the same for those who do not recieve it by faith.

Jesus said in John 9:39;"For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and they which see might be made blind."

In this we see how the Word of Truth can give sight when recieved by Faith, or it can make blind for those who think they already know the Truth. This same temporary blindness was shown in Saul in Acts 9:9 when he was blinded for 3 days after seeing the bright light from heaven.

Just as Saul was to be a sign given for the blindness that would come upon the children of Israel for not recieving the Word of God by Faith. We are told in Romans 11:7-8;"What then? Israel has not obtained that which it seeked for; but the election has obtained it, and the rest were blinded (According as it is written, God has given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear) unto this day."

And we are told in Romans 11:25 that this blindness has happened to Israel in part, until the fulness of the Gentiles comes in. And if blindness was given to those who are beloved for the fathers sake, how much less shall the enemies of God be made blind? And that is what we see in story of Lot in Sodom in Genesis 19:11 with the men of the wicked city being made blind at the door.

Those two angels came in unto Lot, just like the Lords 2 witnesses come in unto his elect to bear witness of the Truth to the world. And even though the men of the city desired to know them, they could not, and were then made blind.

Just like those 5 foolish virgins who did not have oil in their lamps, and desired the oil of the wise. And because of the lack of Oil they could not see, and they were left outside the door.

In Exodus 10;21-22 we see the Lord told Moses to stretch out his hand toward heaven that there would be a deep darkness come over the land of Egypt for 3 days so that none of the Egyptians could see one another. But in verse 23 we see all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings, just like those wise virgins who had that Holy Oil of the Spirit of God to guide them in a darkened world.

This darkened world is shown in Job 10:22;"A land of darkness, as darkness itself; and of the shadow of death, without any order, and where the light is as darkness." We see even though this world has light, it is truly still in darkness toward the Light of the Lord.

The Lord said in Isaiah 29:14;"Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid."

Just as this wicked generation is wise in its conciet, but is truly blind toward the knowledge of God. Why? Because they did not seek the Lord by Faith. And so they, by the hardness of their own hearts were made blind.

So that which is to be a guiding light to the faithfull in Christ, has become blindness to the rest of the world. Just as the Lord's "great cloud of witness" in the last days would also be a cloud of covering for the rest of the world that was to be made blind.

We see this cloud of judgment in Exodus 14:19-20;"And the Angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them:

20. "And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud of darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night."

Again we see, some are given sight by the Light, but for others they shall be blinded by the same Light.

I have no issue with your theology but with the lack of any explanation about what that 'light' might be.

I would suggest that the light about which Jesus taught was the realization that we have been set free from silly laws and rules and regulations that suppose to make out who is, or who is not, of God.

There is only one commandment and that is to love. The incumbent laws are nothing less than a denial of God's grace and that one has to keep working to achieve the gift of God. Unfortunately freedom is something like a vacuum for the human mind - any vacant spaces must be filled up with something - like rules and regulations.

John 12:44-46;"Jesus cried and said, He that believes on me, believes not on me, but on him that sent me. And he that sees me sees him that sent me."

46. "I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believes on me should not abide in darkness."

Hey brother! Just caught your post, God is love, and God is light you can sure see how these interchange as they pertain to our own hearts, quite beautiful bro!

He that saith (but doesnt)

1John 2:9 He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.

But he that does (without saying)

1John 2:10 He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.

The darkness in him is hate

1John 2:11 But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.

The same thing is shown interchanged with the word death (the same as darkness) even that of light (with life) being that life which is the light of men

1John 3:14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.

The evidence of passing (having in them the life that is the light of men) God is light which was in Christ, and God is love (which now shineth) in them.

Even as we have past from death unto life the same is shown in the darkness being past is unto the light (insomuch as one is manifest walking in love)

1John 2:8 Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.

Same...(abiding in him) this life

1John 3:15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

Theres others ofcourse, you probroby know them already, but I figured I'd post to your thread, its been awhile bro ^_^

Well a couple days (seems longer!) lol Besides, "fill er up" right?

God bless you!

Oh Wayseer!

I´m eastern orthodox christian and I strongly feel with your statement against what I would call the politicizing of the church.

You shall love the Lord your God with all of your mind, all of your heart and all of your strength.

You shall love your neighbour like yourself.

That its the way, the truth and the life.

I kind of try to go about it this way. Since apparently to Our Lord Jesus Christ FEELINGS are of MAJOR importance, I try to observe and relate to and respect my fellow human beings as FEELING beings. Are they sad, happy, tired and so on.

Because feelings are a mutch stronger reality than symbols, like status symbols, political symbols, or even religious symbols.

If we prejudice against a person according to brand or style of clothes, a scarff or a cross, then we commit idolatry, worshipping and deifying these symbols, whitch is against the second commandment given to Moses.
