  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Did you know the Bible uses the word “bless” in one form or another around 700 times in the Bible? The Hebrew (OT) translation is berakah, which means the endowment of the power of God’s goodness and favor. In Greek (NT), the word used is eulogeo, which means to speak well of, or praise. It’s where we get our word ‘eulogy’ from. Why we wait till someone is dead to speak well of them is beyond me!

Both of these terms suggest to me that the person you are blessing doesn’t even need to know that they are being blessed. However, when you speak highly of someone, it helps other people to form a positive opinion of that person you are speaking about, which is a blessing.

My husband will likely see this thread as he was a member here long before I was. But even though he will likely see it, he can still be blessed by it.

I have been very sick the last couple of weeks, and my wonderful husband has been soooo amazing as he has looked after me. He has done most of the cooking and cleaning, laundry, and all the shopping. He has been quiet when I`ve needed sleep, and he has not complained that I`ve had about 8 pajama days in a row, or that he has had to do all the work.

God`s provision of a husband has been over-abundant, and not a day goes by that I am not grateful for him.

So don`t wait!! Go now and tell your spouse at least one thing you love about him or her, and next time you talk with your friends, brag on your spouse a bit.

What a sweet thread :) Your hubby is a lucky guy! I love bragging on my guy, whether he's around to hear it or not. He's awesome!!

It's important (and fun and sweet and uplifting and a dozen other things) to bless others. Not just our spouses, but our children, our parents, our siblings, our friends. Say the good things about them out loud, to their faces, with no strings attached, and watch their faces light up :) "Life and death are in the power of the tongue" - speak LIFE to the people you love.

A blessing for you -

"The Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you;
the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace" (Num. 6: 24-26).

Hope you are feeling much better!
