  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

When I grew up, I used to detest the first name I was given. Why? Because aparently in a fashionwave, a lot of mothers had given their daughter the same name. It's not a very 'unique' feeling if there are 6 people in a class of 20 that have the same name. My mother assured me though, that she knew NO ONE at the time who had the same name as I.

Now that I'm older, and indeed not surounded anymore by people who have the same name, I have grown to love it.

My name is 'Eva'. (the Dutch version of Eve), my mother is called Marie Madeleine (Dutch/French version of Maria of Magdalen), my best friend is named Maria. Her sisters are called Martha and Elisabeth.

Sometimes when there's a party and you have to describe who is going to attend... it catches you unaware of how much meaning these names have.
Which Saints are you named for?

Illuminated by the Holy Spirit, All-Glorious One, from Christ the Saviour you drank the water of salvation. With open hand you give it to those who thirst. Great-Martyr Photini, Equal-to-the-Apostles, pray to Christ for the salvation of our souls.

My name : Paul (small) Leon ( lion ) Marquette ( place of commerce ) -- little Lion of the market place ...

You each have a confirmation name ; a first or middle name
and a name Jesus has given you :
Rev 2:17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth [it].

Rev 3:12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, [which is] new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and [I will write upon him] my new name.

Can do what Jabez did : cry out to the Lord , that your name is not " prophetic "
1Ch 4:9 And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow.

1Ch 4:10 And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep [me] from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.
Rejoice that your name , is written in His book of life !

my namesake is in the bible (Judges)....i was named quickly because i had a very low birth weight (no jokes please) and had to be incubated...i was almost a Susan, but as it turned out, i was named Deborah...and i so hated it when i was a teenager..in fact, i made every one call me Holly instead...even now i sometimes bump in to people who call me Holly and it's a real blast from the past! (which incidentally reminds me how stupid i was at the time).

KennySe..Joseph is a good name to have!

Both Holly and Deborah are pretty names..

I went through a stupid phaze myself where I thought my name was boring and changed it to Kierstan which I guess is some weird form of Christine. We do the dumbest things when we are kids!

I do like the name Kierstan though, but I think Christy is much more meaningful :)

I'm the same.
There were three Emmas in my class at school - Emma S (me) Emma W (one of my best friends) and Emma-in-the-corner (a very pleasant but quiet girl who always sat in the corner)

I have no idea how my parents chose the name.
My confirmation name was Lucia, after my sponsor.

I was supposed to be named after my grandmothers-Catherine (of Sienna) and the second should have been Myfanwy (Welsh- said Mu- van-oo-ee) but my mother chickened out at the last minute- she thought I'd get teased and went for Mary instead, after our Blessed Lady

Mary!!! My Welsh sister! I am Welsh too but raised in the states :)
Mary is a perfect name!
My cousins (a family of 9, 6 girls) were all called Mary, their second names were the names they would use
Nice to know I'm not the only Welsh lady round here!
