Is Blasphemy still wrong, and what is it exactly?
How careful should you be with your language and why is that important?

To blaspheme literally means to insult. In this case, to insult God. And we have to be careful with the things we say in order to prevent accidentally insulting God.

Definitely still wrong but everything can be forgiven if we repent except against the Holy Spirit.
  • Matthew 12:31 (NLT)
“So I tell you, every sin and blasphemy can be forgiven—except blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, which will never be forgiven.
To understand what blasphemy is against the Holy Spirit take a look at satan and his angels and how they try deceive and trap people and put them selves above God there is a place planned for them.

Generally ... (contempt and/or slander)

To blaspheme is to speak with contempt about God or to be defiantly irreverent. Blasphemy is verbal or written reproach of God’s name, character, work, or attributes.

Showing contempt and/or slander of our creator? If one loves God .... they will refrain from blasphemy out of their love and devotion to Him.

What satan did has nothing to do with Matthew 12

What satan did has nothing to do with Matthew 12

Hi,

Actually, Satan was the first blasphemer and the originator of blasphemy.

Blasphemy is the anglicized form of the Greek word bla·sphe·miʹa. The Greek term basically means injurious, defamatory, or abusive speech and was used with reference to such speech particularly directed against God.

In view of the name Diabolos (meaning “Devil” or “Slanderer”) given to him, it is evident that Satan was the first one guilty of blasphemy being God’s original adversary. Though his speech to Eve in Eden was veiled and subtle, it, nevertheless, portrayed the Creator as untruthful.

Ge 3:3,4 "But God has said about the fruit of the tree that is in the middle of the garden: ‘You must not eat from it, no, you must not touch it; otherwise you will die.’” At this the serpent (Satan) said to the woman: “You certainly will not die.

Satan was/is that original serpent who lied to Eve, calling Jehovah a liar, thus blaspheming his Holy name.

Rev 12:9 ". . . the original serpent, the one called Devil and Satan (slanderer/blasphemer/adversary), who is misleading the entire inhabited earth;

Satan has been, therefore, the prime instigator of blasphemy from then till now.

Joh 8:44 "You are from your father the Devil (slanderer/blasphemer), and you wish to do the desires of your father. That one was a murderer when he began, and he did not stand fast in the truth, because truth is not in him. When he speaks the lie, he speaks according to his own disposition, because he is a liar and the father of the lie.

Stay safe and well,
LB

Blasphemy is simply profaning the sacred. It's a sin in that exhibit animosity toward God and the things of God through blasphemy.

But blasphemy isn't simply language, it is also thought and behavior. Refusing to love our neighbor is an act of blasphemy, since our neighbor is made in God's image.

Blasphemy is not some kind of "super sin", it's just a sin. And like all sin causes injury. God isn't going to get all angry and smitey because someone blasphemes, God's disposition toward sinners is found in His grace and love through Jesus Christ. God has chosen the blasphemers, along with all other sinners, to be the objects of His loving affection and salvation. That's the Gospel. God wants to restore us to a place of loving friendship, and thus to deliver us out from our blasphemy, so that we may enjoy the fruits of God's kindness, both in this life and in the life to come.

Arguably the greatest blasphemer Jesus tells us about in His parables is the prodigal son. When the prodigal son came to his father to demand his inheritance now, he was telling his father, "You are dead to me".

When the prodigal son in his deepest lows--living in garbage with pigs--he decides that maybe he can convince his father to take him back, not as a son, but as a slave. And so the son rehearses his speech on the way to his father's house.

The father sees his son coming over the horizon, and then rushes out to meet him. The prodigal son tries to speak, but the father embraces him, kisses him, and then tells the servants to go fetch his finest clothes and to prepare the most elaborate feast.

The father does not hold a grudge. The father doesn't hold what the son did against him, but embraces and loves him.

Jesus tells us this story to tell us about the kind of Father God is, what God's love is like.

Even to the one who curses God to His face, God will hold no grudge, but rather God rushes out to meet him and embrace him, and then clothe him with the finest clothes and throw the most elaborate feast. That which was dead and lost has found life, healing, kindness, and the super-abundance of love in the arms of the Father's embrace.

"How deep the Father's love for us
How vast beyond all measure!
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure!
"
