• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

against the Holy Spirit. What makes it unforgivable? Is it because the person who does it refuses to be forgiven or what? And I know what it is, involving the Pharisees and all. Could they have been forgiven if they were sorry and repented or what? I'm scared I did what they did, because of this stupid OCD, and the OCD completely overtakes my mind. What if someone says those bad things out of anger or thinks them out of confusion or believes them for awhile but realizes the truth, could they be forgiven?

Blasphemy is when you can clearly know that the Power of God is working yet you you refuse to bow or submit to it and follow Christ. The Pharisee's thought there tradition was more important then following the true master. But again this is reassurance seeking. I would get on a SSRI anti depressent like Zoloft and ERP therapy for when the thoughts and ?'s pop up in your head just like now so you can resist getting on the computer and ask all these questions about this sin. It is very common for OCDers but that answer will be a short lived victory. You have to nip it in the bud. Believe in yourself that you'll get better and in time they will be few and far between.

God knows your heart and that is what is important - the OCD might make it more difficult, but God still knows your heart. When you see God working and know that it is from God and call it the works of the devil that is what is considered blasphemy.

If you are a Child of God and see God at work - you will not say it is the work of the devil.

That's it, God's gone, I can tell. My faith is gone, you wouldn't believe what thoughts I've thought. I'm unforgiven. I'm too scared to say what's happened.

God is NOT gone. Run back to Him NOW.

The fact that you're stressing about this say enough. It's not from you it's from satan. Do you want these thoughts in your head?

Of course not.

Don't let satan win. Go back.

I have some comforting news for you. You can still be forgiven! The very fact that you are concerned shows that God is still working in you! I have had the same blasphemous thoughts and have struggled for years. There are NO exceptions in Gods promise of 1 John 1:9. I know no matter what we tell you your OCD will cause you to still convince yourself that you have committed the unpardonable sin.
Jesus will never reject anyone who comes to Him. If you come to the Jesus and have a desire to be forgiven, that shows that the God's Spirit is still drawing you.
Hang in there sister!

You wouldn't believe the thoughts I've thought either sister. It's a Good things our lives are now hidden in Christ (it's in Colossians, check it out). Have you chosen to reject the truth that Jesus is savior and instead vehemently and publicly insisted that He is of the devil in order to further your own selfish ambitions? I know you have not. You have not committed the sin, and as a child of God you will not commit the sin. Period.

If you are worried about this then I suggest you read the following article: What is the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit? and pay particular attention to this bit:
As a result, this particular incidence of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit cannot be duplicated today.
And remember that if you lose faith in the Lord and return, He will welcome you back! Read this one, too: http://www.gotquestions.org/sin-God-not-forgive.html
No sin can go unforgiven if you believe in Jesus' sacrifice. Don't give up, because that's exactly what Satan wants!

Also, if you haven't read this before, read it now: http://www.net-burst.net/guilty/OCD_treatment.htm - That's such a great page.

I have been struggling with the same issue lately. I have been praying for wisdom and self-control of my mind.
If you did not want to have these thoughts, it is your OCD not yourself. God knows your heart.
Also, if you are concerned about this sin, it is because you have no done it.
Blasphemy is deliberate resistance of the Holy Spirit.
Tell yourself these are no thoughts and preach Romans 8:1- There is therefore NO condemnation for those in Christ. Simple.

Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit isnt what you think, perhaps. Its unbelief. Thats what makes it unforgivable. The dont believe unto death. Theres plenty of biblical evidence for it. It can infact be forgiven, once they believe. But theres always a chance that an unbeliver will die in this sin. Its serious. No Christian can commit it. If we could, we would have been warned more than once or twice. It can be committed, by unbelievers, who can be forgiven after they are saved. The bible isnt always literal guys. Its not simply 'thinking bad thoughts' or 'saying something bad against the Holy Spirit' thats not true. God let me in on this knowlege.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
