To say Obama is not getting some votes because he is black would be like saying Clinton is not getting some votes because she is a woman.

Really now, race and sex of the person will of course play a factor in some of the votes.

True - but that isn't necessarily a bad thing, and it doesn't necessarily reflect badly on voters.

I would consider it a victory for gender equality for a woman - any woman - to be president of America. I would consider it a victory for racial equality for a black person - any black person - to be president of America. Although that's only one reason to vote someone, it's not necessarily a bad reason to vote for them, and nor is it difficult to understand why that might sway the votes of people for whom these issues are extremely important.

Ah, I await the day with enthusiasm when you have a disabled black atheist lesbian president :p

Do show me where gender demographics play a significant part in Clinton's vote. Link please. Then we'll compare to the 90% that Obama enjoys from his demographic.

*expects silence*

When I look at crime figures in America, it's clear to me that socially something very wrong is happening for black people to be committing the majority of crimes. So it doesn't surprise me too much to see black people voting for a black president, as maybe they think he is more likely to take steps in solving the root issues that cause black people to commit more crimes. Just a thought.

Among women voters, Clinton lead Obama by 11%. Definitely not as significant as Obama's 90% in the black voting. But if you will reread my post I said race and gender will play some role in the voting.

I don't think it is necessarily a bad thing either... it just is. I was just saying some people will use race and gender as a factor in their decision making on voting for a candidate.

but the fact remains that he is where he is because of his skin color.

Really? How much of the population of America is black? Surely not nearly enough to get a black person into power? He must be getting a lot of votes from white people to be where he is right now.

Being English, I don't know anything at all about his policies, but he can certainly deliver a decent speech, and with presentation playing such an important role in gaining votes these days (like it or not), I'm not that surprised he is doing well. I dunno, I just think it is a bit insulting to say he is only where he is because of his skin colour.

Incidentally, females make up 50% of the population, so Hilary obviously wouldn't need nearly as much of the 90% figure of her demographics, to match the votes Obama gets, just because he is black, and Hilary is a woman.

Over 90% of blacks in North Carolina voted for Obama. Should blacks be expected to be racist or is Hillary Clinton that bad?
I wouldn't say that 90% of blacks in North Carolina anymore than I would say they are sexist for not voting for Hillary.

Man... This is the first ever election year that I don't have anyone to vote for, but I don't ever recall having so much fun watching the campaign....lol
